Family finds coyote on kitchen counter

Here in S.D. it is mountain lions so our little dog can only go out with my wife or I. We have had them by our deck. But so far not in the house lol.

I'm in North Jersey, right across the river from NYC and we have them here. A guy got bitten by a rabid one a few weeks ago. No natural predators here so they are multiplying unchecked. Saw one walking across my back yard early one morning. I keep the 22 with an empty 2 liter soda bottle by the back door!!! :elmer:

We have Mountain Lions, Coyotes, Bears and lot of Foxes. There are many of posters for missing cats. Including a couple of ours. I stopped getting cats and providing a buffet for the foxes. With wild animals here, the officers won't move them. They say "Hey you moved in on them." I have to agree. Officially you aren't supposed to leave your grill outside. It attracts bears. We had a lion when we first moved in. The Wildlife Officers went to the primary schools and told them not to run from the big cat. It would just excite him.

Fox screaming, it happens everynight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8bK0qfWPKo

Gonna have to try that bottle deal lol. We have coyotes out here too but we also have a good 40-50 acres of empty land in the back. Problem is my wife likes to walk along the county easement/flood control ditch and look at all the birds etc out in it and hardly ever takes her pee shooter. If I'm outside, which is a lot, I'm armed.

You can't leave windows, doors or anything else open around here if you don't want various kinds of wildlife moving in with you. My neighbor installed a doggie door on his back door and within a few days had a family of raccoons move into his bedroom. Needless to say, his wife wasn't too thrilled when she discovered them sleeping in their bed.

I don't see why people get so worked up about coyotes. I see them a lot in my suburban neighborhood in SoCal. I just don't let my cat outside, I don't own little yippy dogs, and I don't leave any pet food or garbage in my yard to attract them. Problem solved. When I'm out walking my Husky/Malamute mix rescues on leash and they see one and start going crazy, the coyote high-tails it.

I wish the Foxes would come back to my neighborhood, there are to damn many rabbits, and they need to be cleaned out!!!!

Well, RABIES is a pretty damn good reason. They attack livestock, pets, and have attacked small children. Plus, they are, by design, a predator that also carries a variety of nasty diseases; plus of course, fleas and ticks. And they are LOUD, especially at night.

I don't hesitate to end the life of any coyote that I see.

So, hopefully this answers your question.

I was reading about "coydogs". It's really interesting.

Ours dogs are small. One is under four pounds.
A red tailed hawk could even get them.
If we let them go outside the dirt would get embedded in their nails and our 6 sliding glass doors would get scratched.
It's really more about keeping them clean and fleas out of the house.
Yep, coyotes and Road Runners.
Since I picked my online name, I've come up with some Road Runner based names ones I like better.
Too late to change, isn't it?

Do some research and you will see there are more rabid cows than rabid coyotes in Oklahoma. Coyotes represent less than 1% of the wild animals that have rabies. There are more rabid dogs, cats, cows, and horses in Oklahoma than rabid coyotes but you wouldn't shot any of these animals on sight if you saw one, right?

Some of the same people that like to shot wolves and mountain lions would like to shot coyotes. The irony is that there wouldn't be so many of the coyotes around if people shooting wolves and mountain lions wouldn't have eliminated their natural predators!

Here is one that came by the house last year...

They aren't native to Georgia. so not part of the eco- system. My neighbor's kid saw five of them up the street. By the way there is no limit on them in Georgia. Happy hunting.
