I'm piecing the system back together, installed a new sanden style compressor, had new lines made and purchased a new expansion valve. The expansion valve (being shipped to me now) has two lines coming out one with the flare nut and the other small tube that inserts into the line....question is does it just slide in or is it sealed in some manner? Thanks...

It slips in place and is covered with some insulative high-falootin' rubber-based achempookie. If we EVER dry out, I'll try to get a picture.

LOL....thank you. Guess I'll google that sealer :).

Hope the storms let up soon.

Found install recommendations....needs no sealant however as The Horvaths wrote a lot of folks are using "dum dum" the black sticky stuff.

There's that name I was looking for! It's a heavy rubberized tape that simply serves to help hold and insulate the capillary tube from engine compartment temperature.

Yep...thanks for your help.
