Hey guys, so some of you may know I just got my charger dyno tuned and on my way home I developed a rattling noise at around 1500-3000 rpm.
got home and got under car while someone revved the engine and there is a deadful rattling noise coming from my driver side dynomax ultra flo muffler.
now before I go cutting up my exhaust and muffler to try and repair it, maybe someone might have an idea on a easier way to fix it.
or it could be something else, maybe my muffler bearing has shat itself

Did you pre-load the muffler bearing with the correct amount and grade of grease?

The only thing I can think of is that a baffle plate has come loose inside the muffler??

Sorry to hear this. A pisser. I'd be tempted to beat the sob with a rubber mallet.

the muffler bearing part was a joke, I really do have a rattle lol.
possibly the inner mesh has let go, what a pain in the *** this is going to be to fix.
any ideas on best way to do it, I was thinking cut the end off and maybe a piece out of the side then re weld it all back in

Dammit Benno I just noticed a rattle too around the same RPM range and was wondering where it could be coming from. And I run the same Mufflers!

I see a pattern emerging.

You crack up Benno . . . that was good . . . LMAO

Trouble is, now I've got to clean my drink off my computer monitor . . . ( sigh ) . . . LMAO . . .

Thanks for the chuckle . . . good luck to you on getting it corrected ( and quickly ) . . .

If it were me I'd take it apart, take a picture and send it to them. Those aren't by any means a cheap muffler so they should stand behind them.

gents for those interested I found the problem, I dropped the muffler off and found where the 'dynomax pressed writing in the top of the muffler had a massive crack through it which was letting exhaust gas out and rattling together when pressure went through. I cut muffler open to make sure and yep all internals were fine, just a massive crack in the top, while I was fixing that I noticed on one of the ends where one of the dodgy dynomax welds were it had not penetrated properly and exhaust gas was coming out of there as well, so I fixed this. and wow my car no sounds better than it ever did. must of been cracked for a while.

interesting, I've been running ultra flos for 3 yrs now with zero issues ......
