The Canadian Dollar

Yeah, going to order the alterkation for the challenger in February, not looking forward to the exchange rate or the duty. It turns a $5000 dollar piece into a $ 6500 dollar piece in a hurry:angryfire: Bruce

A couple years ago I was looking at a alterkation for my cuda. I decided on controlfreak suspension. http://www.freakride.com/

A bit cheaper and does the same thing. Works good and the company is #1 in customer service.

The Russian economy has "tanked"....

That makes me happy! Screw them :icon_fU:
...I kinda like their women though :headbang:

Well, seeing as how the Canadian dollar is not doing any better against the US dollar and a lot of suppliers off free shipping in the US but not up to Canada, I am looking for a member in North Dakota or Montana near Saskatchewan that will let me ship stuff to them and hold it for me to pick up. I'll gladly pay a holding fee for their trouble as it'll still be less than shipping and the gas to go down there. I'll be able to do it when I'm down in Regina for a football game or visiting friends.

If anyone is interested or knows of a service I can use they can pm me or post it here.

Sorry for hi-jacking this thread.

I for one love the Canucks! I wish there remained a parity between the dollars so neither one suffered. It was only a year ago or so that we were even on currency deviations. I'm sure it will get back to same when oil gets back to a normal level.

Canada is a great friend and partner to America and I hope we always remain so. I just wish you'd increase your walleye slot limits and take home catch. My only bitch with the great country of Canada.

Ah,Taxada as I call it. Yes it is very frustrating ordering parts, you do up your list, tack on the shipping(to the border),then the dreaded conversion when you decide to pay. I just ordered a complete rear end from Dr.Diff. I wonder if the govt didn't waste billions on changing the texture of the money every few years,I'm pretty sure it's plastic now? And adding all the colors, they could save a buck! And why the hell is the Queen on the $20 ?

Canopoly Money!! Thats why i moved back to Texas. It would be a great place to live if you weren't taxed to death.I was looking to retire in Newfoundland and started to look at a piece of land and house plans. Tallied up to almost $900,000 for 1 Acre of land, and to build a house. No way Jose!! Went back to Texas and bought a House, 2 Acres of Land for $250,000 and now i can Cruise all year. Now planning to retire in Texas and visit Canada when i want to and get $1.23 Canadian for my US Dollar.

Yeah i ordered my alteration last week along with a brake kit for the challenger, the total with shipping was $6200 U.S which means by the time i do the money conversion and the border taxes it turns in $8700 CAD!!! don't know if i should cry or freak out. Feels like im getting it dry no lube!

Canopoly Money!!

Looks worse than that to me...

I see several US Mailbox for Canadians in Babb, Montana. I use these mailbox services all the time for items ordered from the US. I usually costs $5 a package as a fee. No membership fee. Normally you just register online with them and get your packages sent to them under your name, their address. Sometimes, instead of paying taxes and duty I use that money for a little get-away since you can claim tax free up to $800 per person after 48 hours. Or $200 pp after 24 hours.

To get you started, here is one of them but their are a few to choose from.

With our failed, disaster So called president I can't explain why the dollar is so strong. But our Economy is still doing very poorly nd for the life of me can not explain why. Sorry the Canadian exchange rate is so poor.

Most of my investments are tied in with the American economy and they have done very well so far. While the rest of the world looks at the US economy in envy, the Americans are certain it is poor performing. Unemployment is low, dollar is up, maybe I'm missing something. My return on my American investments are outperforming all my other ones.

While I do appreciate the effort, I have looked into these places and Babb, Montana, is 11 1/2 hours drive from me one way. It's 7 1/2 hours drive one way from the closest place I would be able to visit friends and break up the trip.

I was hoping for someplace near where North Dakota, Montana & Saskatchewan all meet as that is the ideal spot but the best option I've found there is a bar that supposedly will hold tour parcels for you for $5 apiece but I only found mention of it in a 4 year old news story. I'd prefer an online service like Ship to the Border.

Oh well. I'll keep digging.

I'm just blowing a bit of steam due to the fact our Canadian dollar really sucks right now. Today bank rate is US$1 equals CAN$1.23. :thatswck: ...

Hey, the greenback buys $1.30 Australian....and it costs $24USD to ship a fender Pentastar emblem from Wisconsin.

Here, shed your tears into this empty Fosters can :)

Steve, look into Shipito.com. They may be an option for you. Couple of dollars per parcel, and they'll consolidate multiple purchases into one box to save you shipping fees.

yeh I hear that, .77 cents Australian to US dollar. bought my hydroboost brake unit a couple months back turned a $1200 item into $1600
