How's it going everybody? I just picked up a 1967 coronet 4 door that needs some fixins here and there. It's got a 440 but not the original 440 that came in it. The previous owner bought it and owned it for 8years, and never really got the chance to drive it after he had done a lot of work to get it to the point where it is now. He had the 440 built by a guy 40 miles away from Blackstone, VA but he didn't know anything about what the guy did. From what I've looked up so far from the block casting, it's a 2536430-10 which is a '69-'72 block. It has the extra rib going down the side of the block. I know the earlier 440 motors didn't have that rib. When I pulled the valve covers I found that it has the. "452" heads on it. 650 Holley, Torker intake, some brand of headers. Electric fuel pump. He doesn't know what cam the guy put in it, but it's "one size above stock." Would that be a mopar purple shaft maybe? I'm going to call the builder(the seller of the car gave me his number) tomorrow and see if he remembers anything about the motor. It definitely needs fresh gas, and the carb needs to be rebuilt. I did some timing and carb adjusting just to play around with it, and the initial timing was set at 10.* I bumped it up to right at 15* and adjusted the mixture screws, and it runs a lot cleaner than it did before. Couldn't seem to pull more than 15psi on vacuum though. Anyways, I'll be asking lots of questions in different parts of this forum in the days ahead. Thanks in advance for the knowledge I will undoubtedly receive.

Griff

Welcome from PA, and thanks for posting some pictures of your car - we love to see pictures!

The car looks to be in really great shape, so it looks like you have a great project!

Welcome to the site, the car looks great . And the motor is nice and clean .
Good luck with it

Nice. Love that boxy style. Look at the dimensions! From the rear door to the rear bumper. Beautiful The stock look with the 14's take me back. I think the local PD where I grew up used similar cars. Welcome.

there's a small flat tab on the driver's side block....even with the distributor, that can tell what year motor and if HP....just if front of the valley pan

Kick *** cruiser man. The older I get the more I like them 4 doors.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, I'm excited to get started and play around some. First thing was that none of the door lock cylinders functioned so I ordered a new keyed set last night. BUT, I shattered the drivers window so now I have to either find one or see if a local place can make me one. There's something wrong with the door latch on the drivers door. It clicks and locks into the first position, but when you try to shut it all the way, it won't click to the second gear position unless you slam the door half a dozen times. I had the window down, and I slammed the door shut to try and get it to latch all the way...and shatter. I'll probably post that issue on a different part of the forum and see if I can get some guidance on how to fix it. All the other doors latch perfectly fine and the gear looks the same and operates the same as the other doors, it just doesn't latch all the way so the door doesn't lock in all the way.

I'm definitely keeping the 14s with the hub caps, just need new tires. I'm going to have to wait on doing sheet metal work and big money items for a little while..the ol lady said I spent my next few months play money on the car itself haha

Welcome Griff. One step forward two steps back. Sometimes it just goes that way.

Welcome. Very nice. Enjoy the site and good luck with the car.

welcome to FBBO

Sleeeeeeeeeper.

I'd consider putting the ac back in.

Yeah that's in the future plans. Heat and ac. The heater core isn't even hooked up right now
