I've looked at a lot of posts on the '62-65 site and I've seen different answers to my question;
What is the difference between a manual and auto trans crossmember?
Some say there is no difference and some say there is. Some say the /6 and the auto are the same and the 4spd is different. Is there a difference? Anybody know where I can find out? Does anyone have pics?
I found this picture recently - what is this for?
Any help is appreciated!

Going by my 64 B-body parts book, both crossover and mount itself, are the same for a V8 with auto and standard.

Differences come up for six-cylinders, and of course, A-bodies. Hope that helps.

That's strange because my 65 Chrysler parts catalog does not list any trans crossmembers at all. I've looked in all sections of the book that make sense and no mention of these. What book are you using?

Mopar 1964 passenger car parts catalog. Lists all parts.

Crossmembers and trans mounts are listed just after the relative engine sections, under motor mounts.
Haven't bothered looking at the stock standard trans, so might only be 3-speeds offered.
All going to depend on what trans your trying to mount up...and, the mount boss on the tail shaft housing, you've got.

I have several laying in the garage, maybe one would fit:icon_weed:

The problem is I'm not sure which one will! I'm planning a 3 spd manual to 4 spd conversion and I'm not sure which one I need. Even conflicting info in the first two replies in this post! :eusa_wall:

Damn - found them! Thanks for the tip. I looked through a lot of sections in my book - never thought to look in the engine section for a tranny mount. In my '65 book it says the manual trans crossmember is the unique one, which means the /6 and auto are the same. That is opposite of what your '64 book is telling you. BTW - converting a 3spd to a 4 spd.

Ain't MA great! Yes sir, 65's are a one of a kind trans. At least on the 727s.

64s and earlier, using 727 autos, used the trunnion type driveshaft. Can only guess it's the same for standards. 65s changed to the slip-type yoke, via different trans tailshaft/housing. Again, only guess on the standard trans.

AND...if your converting 3spd to 4spd, check your book to see if a 4spd is even stock option for 65s. Probably make the dif if crossover/mount will work.
One thing really going for us Mopar guys is, just like the crossovers, most used same bolt pattern. So, if one crossover don't work...another will. Just have to fit a mount. Another and, is all the aftermarket stuff made these days.

Good luck on it all!!

I have a 62 with 440 with a 727 that had a trunnion mount push button and changed to slip yoke tail shaft no difference in mounts or cross members.
Look at how the trans mounts to transmission this may help.
