Help ... Help ... Please sanding & filling & leveling....

So i ain't no paint & body man at all but i am broke... Lol so what do i do first what grind sand paper do i start with and using bondo is it right to mix just little bits for the area you are working on and then how do you make it look so good when done sanding keeping it level... I just need help..this is my car

Get a gallon of wax and grease remover and pump up sprayer and Florescent drop light. After dark, spray the body down with wax and grease remover a panel at a time. While wet take the florescent light and wax pencil and on a angle look for the dings and low spots. when you see them mark them. When all panels are done then look at it in the light in your garage. Your trying to see the sheet metal in the reflection of the light. If it look straight then spray the car with light colored 3m dust and block sand the entire car. assess the body work needed and ding out deep repairs. Do it by hand. No da air sanders that will create more dents. Then dust it again with white 3m dust. Now you can check for rust and bondo bombs!

remember the roof, hood and trunk lid will have three times more dents to look for. Don't get discouraged. It is easy if you plan. When you need blocks make them from tight cell foam blocks, the ones used to pack heavy electronics. Not the styrofoam ones hot cups are or peanuts are made from.

Any dents and dings you can acesss through doors / trunk / fenders and non braced areas under hood ect you will want to push out all of the dent you can, hammer and dolly with care , body steel will stretch if worked much,
all of your dings and dents will have a crown { raised } area around the outside edge of the dent that will have to be dollied and tapped down with care.

when using filler do not try to just fill the dented area, you will need to spread it on past the area you are working, once you learn how to use a DA you can get panels pretty close and then finish with a 12 to 16 " non flexable block.
For the 1st round of filler knock it down with 80 grit , next round go with 180 , then 220 before primer.

Looks good to me. Drive it and leave it alone for now.

Devil's in the details! The areas that you have to add body filler to should be ground down to bare metal with a 36 grit grinder. Give it some "Teeth" so the filler will stick! use an air-file or "dummy Board" with 40 grit paper (17'' long)to get the area flat. When you're using the dummy board, sand diagonally from upper right to lower left, and then alternate to upper left to lower right. prime the area with a sandable primer, two or three coats will do. When it dries,use the dummy board again with 120 or 150 grit paper. The more you do the better you'll get! When you're done you'll be very proud of your work. And so will we!!!
