I found an interesting internet article for stopping thieves. Check out E-Stopp. It locks the brakes via a hidden button actuator. Very Cool, about $500.00.

This is very cool, thanks for letting us know. Around here, though, a lot of thieves use flatbed tow trucks, can grab and drive away in 60 seconds. Hopefully this will slow them down, set off the car alarm, and give enough warning time for the cavalry to come running.

Insurance and the best possible parking is my plan. As above, make it difficult for the tow truck to grab it.

What do people do to protect there cars from theft? Does anyone use the boot or shut off switches. I like the idea of the e-stop. Also would like to know what others do. I'm paranoid as heck about leaving my car anywhere outside of my line of sight.

I still carry The Club. It made a mess of the cheap Grant wheel. So, I don't use it in the Momo. If a determined thief wants it, they will get it. Park best available, insure it and forget it. This won't prevent me from travel and enjoying the car. While I don't need the weight, I carry the Club so that something heavy is handy.

Mine is protected by Glock, Smith & Wesson and H & R 20ga. :D I really like driving my cars and don't care to leave them unattended not to mention I hate having to look for a replacement. My daily driver is a 95 Dakota and that thing never gets locked. Even the windows get rolled down that way no one breaks them if they want to rummage through it. Locked brakes are good but it doesn't slow down a roll back hardly at all if any and some of the things I've done to protect my card from thieves is illegal so saying what that is here isn't cool but some ideas involve electricity, chemicals and reptiles :D

One thing that helps is to use a decal that says 'vehicle protected by reptile' and even if it isn't, it'll make most have 2nd thoughts. Another one is to have a recording of a rattle snake shaking it's rattle come on whenever a door or hood is opened or the car is moved. One more is to have a alarm so loud go off inside the car once someone sits down. 125-150db usually does the trick but I think that one is illegal too not to mention if you yourself or your spouse or child forgets about it....

FYI, the cam on the E-STOPP slowly turns so it tightens the brakes and locks them down better than the emergency parking brake. So, if the tow truck is going to tow it, noise is going to be made. NOISE gets you caught!!! Here in Texas, our property is protected under the Castle law(your home is your castle), which includes your car wherever it is. Day or Night, you can shoot to kill.
I use the club, fuel cut off, MSD cut off and battery cutoff--- I like the idea of the E-stopp for the simple reason they can't push it.
I've had my work van stolen and they tore the hell out of the ignition and I wish I had the E stop then.

Another good deterrent is the Revco !!! I have it now on my work van.

A variation of The Club that I've seen doesn't just lock across the steering wheel (you can simply cut the wheel) but locks from the steering wheel to brake pedal. Any visual deterrent is better than none I suppose.

I like my kill switch.

I don't like the idea of a car sitting there for unknown extended amount of time with constant hydraulic pressure on the brake system....that much pressure on a constant basis may not be good for the rubber cups in the master cylinder or wheel cylinders, not to mention the brake hoses.

I'll stick with my hidden kill switch to the negative side of the coil

If you look at the brake it is not hydraulic it is on the park brake cable

1. Install biometric scanner in your car so only fingerprint starts it

LOL Cranky.....my shop truck is a 93 f150, rusty but trusty and never locked. Make sure you have enough insurance for your collector cars and park wisely.

Its not the cost or the insurance; its the blood, sweat and tears that most of us get really mad about. Not to mention the time, research and patience of rebuilding, fixing a classic car.

I always wanted to torture a thief though; just have no tolerance for thieves. I did catch one trying to steal my radio out of my boat, I was standing there with my Glock 40 and my rottweiler. He asked are you going to shoot me and I said how fast can you run. Rocky grabbed him as he tried to dive into his pickup. I ducked taped him to a telephone pole and called the cops. One cop came and asked where is he ? I pointed to the pole and he busted out laughing; next thing I knew 10 cop cars were on the street taking pictures of the thief. A trained dog is nice as long as you can get there in time. Hey, mississippi madman, how about building me a nice new garage ?

GPS trackers can help recovery if well hidden. Used iPhone App to find my missing phone and it worked great.Battery life and subscriptions considerations when buying. This is 1st I found with quick google but will give you basic idea:

Duct taped to a telephone pole......now that's classic!! My luck would be that I'd get a civil suit filed against me for it tho....
