Has anyone had a worse bondo nightmare than this one?

A buddy bought a 67 Barracuda back in the day.....3/4 of the rt quarter panel had 2" of bondo. It looked great till the repaint decision. It was from Texas, and they didn't even try to bump out the caved in part.

:icon_scratch: i had a 70 Mercury Montego where the po patched up front frame rails. one day a deer ran out in front of me, slammed on the brakes, and the whole front of the car wanted to get tucked under the car. let off the brakes and the car sagged. hope the frame is good.

Looks like you need a better fender.......

My bondo nightmare section of the 67 Belvedere Convertible . . .

Although my bond-buggy is not quite up to par with yours, I had a pretty thick "slopping" of bondo on my car, they did it and painted it to make the car seem "better" than it really was so they could sell it . . . as I dug into it more, I found the bad spots . . .

What started as a little chip in the paint . . .

Eventually expanded it's size to a good section of the driver rear quarter panel . . .

It ended up pretty bad - I had to replace the entire quarter panel . . .

But it's fixed now . . .

The frame is fine but I have a 1969 Impala wagon in the body shop for just that. They are welding the frame so the front end doesn't dip every time I put on the brakes.

That is the problem. So few of these cars were sold here in Mexico that parts are very hard to find.

Fords and Chevys are all over the place but not the Plymouths.

They don't call 'em Bondo artists for nothing. I hope somebody didn't pay for that.

I always called then bondo bandits. The word artist never entered into it.

I have bad parts on the quarters too but nothing like the fender. I am glad my part is replaceable with little or no welding.

it's called fender/quarter panel in a can(bondo)

My '63 Dodge 330 had a small rust hole in the right front fender when I bought it. I went to repair it and discovered the ENTIRE fender was bondo sculpture! It had been well done to where you couldn't tell and most of the remaining metal was almost rusted away to where there was nothing usable left!

Fortunately I found a 4 door parts car with a good fender..

I have a friend that is called "Jonny Bondo". He is good, and does a lot of high end show cars.

Not that bad. But my 62 Belvedere was attacked by the bondo bandit. No rust, just collision damage with bondo slapped on top without any panel straightening . Driver rear quarter was loaded with it from a collision. Lucky for me no one makes replacement panels so I had to cut out and patch using sheet metal.

I'm helping my friend with his 72 Opal GT and found a similar nightmare. 3/4 of the front clip was covered in bondo and cracking. Some areas we didn't even get down to the metal. He thought we should just get past the cracks and rebondo it smooth again. I couldn't find any pictures to show you but it was bad.

we drove all the way to michigan one time for a 67 charger,it was advertised as running driving very good body....
i aksed a lot of questions and got some fair pics altho curiously no pass side full on shots.
when we got there, when i pulled up,i didnt even want to get out of my truck...
the Entire pass side qtr panel facing me,was Sculpted out of bondo,Scoops and all<<....

We are working on it. This is only temporary until I can find another fender.

Here are a few pictures of where it is right now.

It is getting there. Again this is only temporary.

Scary stuff! I worked for a GM dealer body shop many moons ago. I remember the body shop manager tell the body man to stuff the doors and quarters with steel wool because the customer asked to make sure the repairs were done using metal!
