Anyone know if the extensions that held the fiberglass lift off hood up about 3 feet were factory or aftermarket?
Also, where they might be purchased

If you are talking about the posts to support the hood in place like this, they are easy to make. 1/2" steel tubing cut to desired length, weld some 1/2" x 2" Clevis pins to them and paint.

I have seen the hood supports on pictures but never in person or in action. Do they just slide down and hang below the engine bay?

The steel tubing slips over the steel hood pins, basically becoming a longer extension of the pin itself.

young99: When you're done displaying the car, you remove the posts and store them.

Thanks great information, I bet PVC pipe would work and be lighter.

Steel or aluminum tubing would be better. Won't warp or distort. Also, make sure you have holes in the bottom of the tube to put a clevis pin in to hold the tube onto the car's original hood pins. Don't want it blowing across the show field in a wind gust.

Aluminum is the way to go. :icon_thumright:

Thanks for all the replys and the information.
