Does the upper trunk trim on a 70 GTX attach with clips or does it attach with double sided tape? I have all of the trim but no clips to attach it.
Thanks

It uses 'T' clips - basically a machine screw with a flat head, and a tube spacer cut at various angles dependent upon the location along the length of the trim. 3/16" screws if I remember correctly.....definitely not double-sided tape from the factory.

Sorry I cannot put any pics up right now...my car is in hibernation. I haven't seen anywhere that supplies those clips. Hopefully someone knows. :icon_thumright:

Hey Mike, if this is for my 70 GTX you're working on ;) .... why is it that some of the 70 GTXs that I see out there do not have that trim? Personally, I like the rear end without that trim and with the rear lights bezels(?) blacked out ... and the spot where the trim is supposed to be is just the same color as the car.

Are the ones you are seeing REAL GTX's...or clones?

Yep. This is for your GTX! I have the trim but need the clips to install it. The GTX's and Sport Satellites had the trim on the back. Roadrunners and the basic cars were just body color. The GTX had the black paint around the tail lights which makes it look just plain mean and Evil!

This is a good point kiwigtx, I'm assuming they were actual GTXs and not clones...

This is "the one that got away" for me, which ended with me getting the '67 instead of the '70.

That one does not have the black trim around the actual lights that I'm thinking... I'll have to post a pic of it, if I can find one.

I remember saving that YouTube clip of the orange 'GTX' that was advertised last year. I liked the look, but there were little things wrong just by watching the video.
The black one above has a couple of questionable features....Roadrunner mudflaps, no rear chrome trim, '440' call-out emblem on trunk lid, Charger exhaust tips, lack of or blacked out tail light chrome highlights, gloss paint on rear panel....and what looks to be a Road Runner emblem on the side of the rear quarter. :icon_thumright: probably a nice car all the same. :headbang:

Have to agree with Kiwi on the black car, it looks more like a Roadrunner or a Satellite. Need to look at the VIN to see if it is a RS23 for GTX and should be a RS23U or RS23V or RS23R. U code is the 440 4 barrel, V code is the 440-six barrel and RS23R is the almighty HEMI car. Roadrunners would be a RM23 and have a N for the engine code if it was a 383 car and a V for a six barrel car on a 70. The next step it to check to see if the partial vin is on the radiator support, rear trunk gutter and some other places and matches the vin & fender tag VIN #. That should tell you if the car was born a GTX or if someone is representing a car to be a GTX that was born something else.

Good information to know... my current '67 GTX is a matching VINs car, which I verified VINs on motor, windsheild VIN, and trunk gutter. I didn't know about the other spots though.
