People at car shows

The guy was at the most 45. I'm 64 so don't hand me that sh***. I remember cars and part numbers from 50 years ago better than what I did yesterday.

Today I went to one of the biggest car shows in the U.S. At the Minnesota State Fair Grounds. The back to the 50's show which attracts over 13000 vehicles. I've been to this show many times as Mpls is my home town. There were thousands of car lovers there and there kids. Many, many disabled folks. People of every walk of life - the only thing I didn't see was people disrespecting the cars on display.

I used to to see so many signs of look but don't touch - etc- . I'm not sure that I saw even one of those today. We've all had our experiences but generally speaking I think people love our cars - vicariously - the way we do. It's just that we own them and they don't. Let loose a little and let folks enjoy your car - to a degree.

(The one thing strange about that show that I've never been able to figure out is there's not a B body to be seen, and very, very few Chrysler products in general) but that's a side issue to the bigger point.

No pics at all?

Car shows can be a disaster waiting to happen.
This was apparent to a good friend two days ago. He took his 67 Satellite to an outdoor car show, someone closed the valve on the oil line for one of his turbos & he didn't notice it before he drove the car home.

A non car family were looking at my car and the little kid was hanging on my door trying to look in and the mother was waching him do this and seen nothing wrong with it apperantly. When I got up to say something they moved on. There's a scratch that wasn't there before now! It can be buffed out but it still pissed me off. Like others have said I would have loved to let the kid sit in the car as to get him to become a car guy in the future but damn

I guess that was leveled at me? I'm glad you have a great memory of things from when you were 14, but not everybody does....even 45 year olds. I was trying to make a point, but right away you went to the ugly side. On second thought, I'd rather not learn about your car...

I took one of my gf's to a cruise-in and she opened the door into the side of the guy beside us. That was pretty much the end.

image.jpgI plan to go to the Capital City Mopar Show on Saturday and now I am terrified to park my car there. It is a family show in a nice park setting. There will be lots of kids too.

I'm with you on that one.
A gentle correction would have sufficed, probably followed by a pleasant conversation about cars.
Who doesn't love talking cars?

People are idiots. My original paint car has new scratches that I don't know where they came from. We ask for it but it is rather painful, but then I realize the car will be on the planet longer than I will, so I have to accept it and enjoy it while I'm here. If people are nice and show interest I let their kids hit the Roadrunner horn. They get a kick out of it.

People at car shows get an opportunity to live a few minutes vicariously thru our beautiful cars. They mostly mean well - but just don't get how much time and $$ we spend on these cars. Kids are just kids and they're always going to touch what they're not supposed to. I'm just as concerned as many of you when I get to start showing my car soon. How am I going to take the ignorance of those that don't get it. I think I'll have the look but don't touch signs up and hope that works. I hope I don't have to be a helicopter owner....... I want people to enjoy the car.
