have a guy on ebay trying to sell a inside rearview mirror for 129.00 for a 68-70 b body convertible . i told him a 68-70 charger was the same e xcept for the arm .he says iam crazy

Not sure what you're getting at. If it's that people over price car parts, welcome to this heartless world. I've had a real education over these past couple of years on what this hobby costs. It ain't cheap. I've been stunned by the prices of parts. It's bad enough at the retail web shops like year one and summit, etc. At least you're getting new reproductions. eBay is another story. Some of the junk that comes off that site and the prices they want just blow me away. I've had my X for 47 years now and the inflationary aspect of buying parts .......... Incredible!

Have my junk for over 25 years. $1000 is the new $100. FWIW,anybody can ask any price for their stuff, don't mean it's gunna sell.

Yeah, there was a guy locally on CL selling a "HEMI fan" for $500. He even gave the part number. I told him there were three on ebay for half that because it's the same part number for a big block. He kept insisting, "but this is the HEMI fan" and I kept telling him, "It's the SAME Part number!!!" lol

There are very few people left that are actually selling parts that are doing it to help the hobby rather than shoving a broomstick in peoples asses with their price gouging. I was lucky enough to meet one right here at FBBO

When 99% of the shops around here charge $100 @ hour, what do you want or expect? New or old, if there's a demand for a part, they can price where they want until it moves. What do you want, parts for free?

i'm glad i bought all my stuff back in 2005-2006 when ebay was just a humble website, and you could find lots of vintage Mopar parts reasonable. i have seen prices for parts going up steadily year after year.

Check hood, grill and fender prices...on here. Unbelievable.

Guess it depends on your definition of gouging.

Recently I listed 3 emblems for $38 shipped. A potential buyer offered me $10 to split them up and ship just one. Had to explain one emblem would cost $19 to ship as my cost needed to include at least a half hour to drive to the USPS and back, use their small box packaging and insured ship charge around $6 to CA. At a swap I likely would have accepted the $10 as I would expect to sell other items. They ended up taking all three for the $38 shipped.

IMO, it comes down to what your willing to pay for something you want. Make an offer, get the response, and go from there. If folks are pricing the parts out of the realm of reality they'll find out in time or they don't "need/want" to sell it.

Then too there's the flipside. Some folks act like you should just give the parts to them. Some are even irritated with you if you won't.

I recently purchased '69 barracuda passenger side grill set for $50 at a swap, but another seller has a drivers side for $350? So should I be irritated with the driver side seller if he won't sell it for $50?
No, I'll just keep looking.

I believe the convertible mirror mounts are different compared to hardtops because of where they mount - do a comparison. (for sure on the '66/'67 models) I just picked up an NOS '66 B-Body convertible mount on EBAY for $125 (buy it now) It's a one year/convertible only part, I didn't even hesitate 3 seconds or it would have been gone.

Caveat Emptor.

sad really some think they have it's weight gold,
for them either rusty or old parts

gouging or greed pain & simple

we should be helping & all taking care of each other,
not trying to drain someone's bank account or rips someone's head off,
just for old parts

It is what it is thou, you do what you have to do...

I have come to terms that I do not sell parts per value but by how long it takes me to find it where stored and to put everything back. So if you really want it and just have to have it that is what it will cost. I am not a parts jober nor do I run to swap meets to buy parts for resale and when I do buy a part it is for my personal projects and use. My time is just as valuable as anyone else's and that is just the way it is. If the potential buyer does not like the price structure I do not go looking for it makes me no difference either way. So a $125 mirror maybe a bargain.

I remember about 25 years ago, when the Interwebz was still a wet dream in Algore's empty mind, and I subscribed to Hemmings, MCG, and a couple of other magazines. I saw an NOS '65 Satellitle grille advertised for two grand on both HMN and MCG, and thinking "This guy is an idiot! No one is gonna buy a '65 grille for that!" I have no idea if he sold it for that, but there it was.

Million dollar grilles are popping up. If you have a 70 Coronet or any Charger hope you don't need one.

And I can fix those grilles for a lot less, lol!
