Was wondering if anyone is running an all alum BB on the street. I'd like some feed back.

If I had the money I would buy an INDY Aluminum block for my pro street coronet. 4 bolt mains, beefed up block, cant go wrong...It would really be sweet on street or drags.

Where was it that someone said you could get an alum short block for a grand or so more than the iron?

I have an aluminum low deck Indy wedge to go into my 65. 664hp, 652tq. Its the sister engine to the PHR/Mopar Muscle Violent Valiant. 450lbs with oil in the pan, manifold installed with injectors & t/b, balancer, v/c's, distributor. Have not installed it yet, but I'm going to start taking the car apart soon for it and the other upgrades that will get done to it. If I can swing it, may get started on the disassembly of the car this week.

I have aluminum 505 cu in Viper motor in my truck. 130k miles

I am running the Aluminum world Hemi block with Stage V heads. What type of feedback are you looking for?
Thanks,Joe

I have Muscle Motors building a 540 cu in B with Indy castings for my 65 Belvedere. In a few weeks I will travel to Lansing to watch the dyno break in!!

Daytona Kid, muscle motors offers a Indy block for 2200 & a world block I think for 3K if they do the build.

Mike post up some info on your motor when you can!

Here is mine during test fit to the k-frame. IMG_0919.jpg

540 engine specs: Diamond custom pistons

Molnar crank and rods.

Comp cams cam/lifters

Manley spring/locks/retainers

Indy block, head castings, plain valve covers, valley tray, intake manifold

ARP fastners

Ackely &Childs rings

Michigan 77 bearings

Powerbond dampner for proper pulley alignment

Fel Pro gaskets

Roller master timing chain.

Ferrea Stainless steel valves

T&D rocker arms

FAST EZ EFI 2.0

Conservatively it will make 730 HP and 730TQ .

Hee Hee!

I've got the 540 in my garage! It dyno'd at 765 HP, 753 TQ! Weighed 420#s on the local farm coop scales w/o oil, no H2O pump or hsg.

Nice bullet there Mike. That car is gonna be mean when done!

where, and how much for a fully machined r/b ?
Hi Bob,
My 540 is based on the "B" so I would have a shorter motor, to fit under the stock hood. Muscle motors did the build (details earlier in thread). I knew I would have a ton of money in this engine so I went whole hog and had MM. build, machine, CNC port, dyno, and tune the FI.

I was thinking about building an all alum. B {low-deck 9.998"} Hemi
but spent another $10k on the house this summer
so much for that build...

Kinda' sorta' based on an art. from Hot Rod
IndyMaxx Block
http://www.hotrod.com/articles/the-indy-maxx-500-engine-block-part-1/

but use Stage V heads, fab'd 6bbl EFI just for giggles

lighter & lower narrower to fit "easily"
under an A12 hood in my 68 RR

It was expensive parts list, heads, valve-train & Block
porting & machining was $15k ballpark
{IF I could even get the small bore block, if not I'd do a big bore short stroke}
I wanted to do a std bore/stroke 426ci 4.25" bore x 3.75" stroke,
custom pistons long rod, depends on who's parts another $2500 - $5k -$7500
than another $1500 for exhaust, another $2500 for intake & EFI...
Than ignition, dist., timing & valve-covers etc.
complete was in the neighborhood of $20-$25k-$30k for all new stuff...
