Buddy Baker - sad news

Bummer for sure. He was my favorite Dodge driver. I like what he had to say about his situation....and I do smile when I say his name.

Along with King Richard, my favourite driver. Loved watching him drive his Dodge back in the day. A true ICON of the sport. A definite smile out to ya, Buddy ! You sure put a smile on my face in my younger days. May the Lord comfort you.

Legend.

Hang in there.

Buddy was proud of being the first over 200. Found a few pics to post.

Buddy Baker was the first over 200 mph in an era where Indy cars might hit 180, and Formula I cars were a tad slower yet. Amazing driver, in an amazing era where the best car, driver and crew won by LAPS! Baker piloting that car around Talladega at 200.447 mph was a HUGE deal!

Buddy Baker facing death with predictable courage: Buddy Baker is facing the end of his life with the same courage he demonstrated during a long NASCAR career, when he sometimes drove at more than 200 mph. "I'm right with The Man Upstairs," Baker said Saturday when I [Tom Higgins] visited him along with Humpy Wheeler and Waddell Wilson at the Baker home on the western shore of Lake Norman near Terrell. "If I feared death I never would have driven a race car." Baker, 74, is stricken with inoperable lung cancer, discovered in December.(full article at Charlotte Observer)(7-28-2015)

Buddy drove one way: flat out.
