So just wanted to share this in case anyone is or will be having an issue with your emergency flashers.

I forgot a year or so ago I had replaced the flasher relay from under the dash because it didn't work. Never used the flashers so never really paid much attention to them until a couple of days ago I decided out of the blue to flip the switch, and to my surprise they didn't work at all.

Went to the store bought a new "long lasting" relay which is considerably larger than the usual round small ones, but hey it's all they had. By the way the part # is 522 for a normal on this new just says LL522 not that it's important.

Back story, recently was fed up with a loose connection on my cluster circuit board so bit the bullet and called VANS and got a new chargers specialty electronic board, installed it, tightened up the pins on the plug and got it installed and it works great.

Back to the flasher, after replacing the relay i found that only my ear tail lights were flashing and not the fronts or on the dash indicators??? wtf??

went through all the normal head scratching stuff, jiggled the connector on the switch, toggled the switch on and off a jillion times, plugged the relay in and on a jillion times, reviewed the wiring diagram a jillion times.

As we know power comes from the fuse box to the relay on a pink which is tapped to the brake light switch for power. and on the other side of the flasher a red goes to the flasher dash switch which then distributes it to the front left and right indicators as well as sends a signal up to the turn signal cam in the steering wheel so the dash lights will flash.

Kept thinking wtf all the wire is there and is connected and nothing is loose wtf? after sleeping on it and a cup of coffee later went out to jiggle the switches connector some more to see if the magic fairies had been at work last night (they hadn't! *******).

Continually scratching my head and remembering I had removed everything pretty recently thought to myself I wonder if I put that connector on upside down?! yep sure did! reviewing the wiring diagram told me which wire should be on top and bottom etc so switched it over and blame-o all is good.

So moral of story always make sure you have things connected right, why this one connector in the car is usable either way is a mystery but hey if you end up reading this and it helps you who cares right? Good luck!

Years ago I replaced all the dash lights on my 66 Belvedere and just laid the cluster back in place to see how things looked. Never thought that it needed to be screwed down for everything to work right and well, that's when all the trouble started. 4 hours later the thought came to me that maybe the cluster wasn't grounded lol. All's well that ends well :D
