What is the tacky material used to adhere the plastic backing behind the door panels? It doesn't solidify and seems to remain sticky. I lost too much when the old stuff was removed to just reattach new plastic.

Thanks,
Jon

I was going to comment and link my thread, but you beat me to it, thanks Mechanic for posting my thread! LOL, I realized I failed to note, the strip caulk is 3M brand, and I could only find black, I believe a lot of cars had white originally.

Good thread.

The previous owner (A hole) that put mine back on used white silicone. Now I have the tedious job of removing all that crap. Arrrgh!

You can usually purchase white and/or grey strip caulk at the h/w store. Some of it still have the embedded rope like the original stuff.
