I can't seem to get the new vent wing channel felt to slide into the vent wing channel. It seems to be getting tight about 2-3 inches in at the plastic slider blocks. Is the felt supposed to cover the plastic sliders? Or am I supposed to cut out the felt over the sliders so they poke through the make contact with the channel?

I hate those things with a passion. I'm all ears on this. I have ruined many of them over the years when they get crunched up in the window frame.

If you look at the little white tabs (slides) that snap through the glass, the are a little thicker than the originals. I solved the problem by sanding them down until they slide freely in the frame.

Give that a try, it should do the trick. Yes the felt is supposed to cover the slide. Hope this helps.

I'll try sanding the blocks a little on each side until they fit with the felt over them. By the way, I'm using the NOS Mylar felts. You'd think they'd have NOS sliders by the thousands instead of these re-popped ones that don't fit.

I took about 10-15 thousandths off each slider but it didn't change how tight the glass fit the channel. I ordered re-popped channels from Restoration Specialties in hopes they fit better. One of their people named Todd took my order and told me they make them and have had no problems with fitment. They are $90 for a set of two. I only got one NOS for the same price and it didn't fit.

The only other suggestion I have is to check the shape of the frame. It may be bent and you will are binding up due to that.

I have attached a picture of the ones I used that I ordered directly from Chrysler. Yes, not cheap.

Hope this helps.

You may be right about the metal being bent since that's the one I tried to use and it didn't work. I took the old one out that was the same OEM and it worked better than the new one.

I got a set from Restoration Specialties made of nylon and flocked. They came in a Top Cat Whiskers package. I'll try to install one this weekend. Wish me luck.

P.S. How do I check the curved metal guide to see if it is bent?

i just went through this myself, some trimming of the plastic with a dremmel and everything was good. I also picked up the felt strips from a dodge parts dept, I believe they are for truck windows and that's why the plastic tabs are slightly different.

The only way is to lay the glass atop it/next to it and check for any large variations in the curve. It doesn't take much for it not to work correctly. Check the gap in the rail as well to make sure it is not compressed and pinching down too hard.

Will do, Big D.

What part did you trim and how much?

I trimmed those white plastic clips until the glass slid in the track without binding. Then cut the plastic/felt sleeve even with the bottom of the glass, it was much longer than the glass.

Did my pass front door using the factory white tabs, smooth as butter ! And no trimming needed. If you have the original ones I recommend using them. My drivers door had the glass replaced at some point in its life and the felt strip was never put back on so I had to use the new ones in the package.

*****8-26-15 UPDATE*****

I found a burr inside the track that split the mylar which got hung up inside the track causing the window to hang up. I cut out the split and deburred the track and now the window goes up and down. I tried using the new POS vinyl guides I bought but it split so easily I trashed one. The vinyl is so thin it splits just punching holes for the plastic guides. They are Top Catwhisker brand made by Restoration Specialites. Half as much as the NOS mylar guides but not worth a hoot.

I bought a set of the OEM felts (part# 1-2932230) and installed the driver's side today. It did not go well.

First, it was hard to slide the felt by itself without the window into the channel. Second, it was hard to slide the window with the felt on all the way to the top of the wing frame. Third, the window rolls down a bit harder than it should but it takes waaaay too much effort to raise it.

I must have removed and installed that window now about 7 times. :(

Look at the bright side - you're gettin' really good at it . :icon_surprised:
