So I'm picking this project on thursday, I know its a huge project, but I'm looking forward to it and getting the chance to own a roadrunner. Pictures are crazy rough, apparently he was going to turn it into a prostreet car so he cut out the floor and fire wall, and built a frame for it. Says he has most of the car disassembled including the 383 and 4 speed trans. Comes with an 8 3/4 rear from the pictures, glass, trim and a whole bunch of other parts. I'll be sure to post more pictures and info about the car when I pick it up. Asking price was crazy low so I couldn't pass on this even though I'm sure I'll catch hell for the level of project I've just signed up for. Cheers! Yes the word crazy definitely comes to mind here, good luck with the project.

wow! are you getting all those parts with it? did you find this car in socal? still looks pretty solid from what i can tell. keep us updated!

Ya I'm getting everything he has for the car, he says everything is there but ego knows until I see it. I found the car near Fresno in central California.

Getting the car was a nightmare but it was well worth it, the amount of cars that slowed to look at it on the freeway was great, plus while eating lunch some guy came to my table to talk to me about the car. Loss to go through now, to start planning on where I'm going to start.

congrats on the purchase. it looks better sitting on the trailer than it did sitting in the field

x2^^ Good luck with it and keep us updated

Wow you have some balls. Lots of work to go into that baby. But congrats on having the nerve to bring it back to life. Keep the resto thread going so we can see your progress.

On the bright side it's already apart ;0)

Congrats. Mine was apart, but friggin wow. Good luck. Hope you got a boatload of money.lol

Car looks solid, how did you make out with the parts that are there, is it a complete car? I restored a 70 chevelle that was worse, had rotted 1/4's, no drive line, no front end, no interior, but it came with a completely restored dash board, I mean wrapped in plastic complete from wiring to vent covers, lol... BUT that was a chevy so it wasn't too expensive to finish, 68-70 b's are a bit different of an animal...

Is this the first frame up you are doing?, if it were me I would start by getting it stripped -fenders, dash, doors, etc., Then clean and sand the trunk, cabin, engine bay, and bottom, jamb it all up, paint the bottom, engine bay, etc.. After that is done get it rolling with a gas tank in it, suspension, brakes, etc...

The expensive part is the interior, I just got the final pieces of mine together, I keep track of every part and price- seat covers, door panels, carpet, headliner, arm rests, sail panels, package tray, thresh holds, trunk divider, door/window/lock handles, rear window windlace, 3 piece headliner trim, sun visor covers, pillars and kick panels cost me over 2250 , then just the small parts- headliner t-wires, headliner cups, door panel clips, trim clips, screw kit, sem paints, etc was another $300!!!

So I was over $2500 before the console and dash board!!! Thats when the real fun started, column parts were about $300, console cost me about $700 with top panels and carpet kit (luckily I had a nice console to start with), the dash was the worse for me, I have about everything BUT I am around $2500 including wiring, and again I had the cluster, dash pad, radio, frame, and most of the other stuff..

So just inside the car was over $6K!, When I first went over the car before buying it I figured about $5K in parts total not counting paint and engine machine work/labor, MAN WAS I OFF!!! MOPAR IS EXPENSIVE...

ANYWAY, if you have any questions I can pass on some of my experiences and what I have learned so far... What are you thinking your time line will be? How much are you doing yourself?
Good luck I can't wait to see your progress..

"Looks solid" are always not a correct assessment before any media blasting is done. This car will need an eye for the entire end to end vs focus in on this or that hole in the floor or qtr panel. Instead of that method, just remove all and replace. Good luck!

Good on ya mate, where there is a will there is a way. As Donny said strip and blast it , then buy the replacement panels ( I used AMD ) and start putting her back together. Looks like your partner in the photo is happy so you are half way there.

that looks like a huge project but one you'll be proud of when your done, I really do agree with Donny and NZ70 when it comes down to the media blasting, You'll actually be saving money when building it! Im restoring a RR myself and i couldn't afford to send it out to get it blasted which is the way to go so i bought a small 50 Pd capability blaster and do just the area im doing at the time using wire brushing anything i can but if you can afford to send it out right up front you'll be much better off, once done you wont find one place when working on it that you do some or most of it and then find out, this wont make it and have to start over with a new panel, just sayin but ive learned over time that its part of a necessary first step. ill be watching, love the bird's and best of wishes building the old girl!!! :)

Well your wife is smiling... That's more than have the battle done. So u feel better my 69 RR is worse.:icon_winkle:

it is a big job,but i feel like you have the will and desire to get to your goal with this car, that is very important by it self with anything in life,do not allow others to persuade you with their comments, there is only one comment that matters and its yours, get that bird flying again. beep, beep.
