After 38 years I have returned to Mopar ownership with a 1967 GTX. I owned one of these back in the early 70s and always regretted selling it but it took a long time to get to another. I saw this car on Ebay and found out it was being sold by a consignment dealer in the DFW area, so I was able to give it a good examination and test drive. It is a 440 car with 4-speed and Dana rear, vinyl top, power steering, radio, light package and buddy seat. It has been modified slightly with a cam, Mopar Wedge intake, 750 Edelbrock carb, electronic ignition, aluminum radiator, aftermarket A/C, Magnum 500 wheels and what sounds like hemi mufflers with no baffles inside. I got the original intake, carb, radiator, steel wheels and hubcaps with it.

This is the first hobby car I have ever bought that is essentially finished and doesn't appear to need a lot of work, hopefully that will turn out to be true.

Welcome aboard TxDon, that is a beauty! You say non-project but do you really think you will be able to keep your hands and wrenches off of her to make it "yours"? Good luck with how ever you decide to keep her. Mocajava

Funny you should say that. The first thing I did when I got it was drive it around the block, then I jacked it up, pulled the wheels, and checked it out for a couple of days. My wife thought I was crazy but I do that on every used car I buy.

This one checked out very well. The only problems I found were a badly misadjusted clutch and a sketchy looking throttle return spring which I propped up by adding a second outer spring.

Congrats. Dig the color combo.

Good for you Don on your new purchase. It has to be a real dream come true.

This car came with very little history or documentation, I would really like to remedy that. The guy who consigned it to the dealer flipped it after only a few months, before that it belonged to someone in Tennessee. He bought it in July of 2013 and drove it in Power Tour in 2014. The brief spec sheet that came with it says it had an OEM style restoration in 2001 and the drivetrain was rebuilt with 5000 miles on it but there are zero details prior to 2013. My guess is that it was all stock for a long time then someone, maybe the Tennessee guy, added the A/C and hopped up the motor, but I really have no idea.

I know its a long shot but does anyone on here know anything about this car? If you would rather not post, send me a PM and I will respond. Thanks for any help you can offer.

So, no luck on history, I was really hoping someone could fill me in.

I got under the back of the car yesterday and was looking at the mufflers. They appear to be "Hemi" mufflers, one has the pentastar, what appears to be a date code of 9-67 and PN's 22840 and 2781300. They look stock but definitely do not sound stock, more like Flowmasters. Are these aftermarket copies with modified guts?
