Hi guys! So I'm going to be blunt and say I don't know much about mopars, was an import guy many moons ago. Saw a Satellite at a car show and fell in love.

Anyways so I've done a good amount of basic research on B bodies for years but one popped up local to me. This is all I know about it so far.

1968 Plymouth Satellite Sport.
Factory H-Code 383 engine
Factory 4spd manual trans with factory hurst shifter.
8 3/4 rear diff
Bolt in cage not weld in.

I asked about rust and he said

Car has very minor rust from what I've seen. I've seen way worse, Lower rear window and lower rear quarter panels.

Anyways, what should I be looking out for? If I end up with it I'd like to do maintenance and keep the 383 while making it a 450 hp street car pump gas. It's not my daily but living at an apartment complex limits what I can do. I'm still looking into what parts to get the numbers but I know maintenance before mods! And a ballpark figure of what you think its worth? Hes aslimg $12k. Thanks guys!

Went and checked it out. It's missing the rear bumper but ran well. Cracked windshield and no back seat. Snapped a few pics uploadfromtaptalk1439165288800.jpguploadfromtaptalk1439165305046.jpguploadfromtaptalk1439165324146.jpg

He's committed to $12k, won't budge. I got the vin and it came with a 383 just not sure if it's a numbers matching car. I really didn't want to spend $12k but it is a running bb... added the fender code and vin too if it helps.

Did you buy the car? We need pictures to have an opinion. From what you said, and from the few pics, I think it's priced high. I paid more for my Dart than I thought it was worth. I wanted it.

First, quarters are a definite spot for rust. Floor pans, rear window corners as you stated and trunk pans seem to be a fun place for rust. I just got my 68 and I was lucky. 12?hmmm as stated above...hard to help without pics. Mine is a small block car with 60k original at 5.5 P package and original EVERYTHING. Nice driver so...is the big block and 4 spd worth 7,000? I'd say I've looked high and low for 5 years and found much worse than you described at an average of 8 for junk

He's asking way to much imo.

I thought so. The fact it already had a bb attracted me. Maybe I'll look at a nice body sb car and research how much to throw a bb in it

that car is 40ish miles from me and I chose my small block over that one. That particular car has been for sale for a LONG time. So ya have to ask..."why" I was surprised to see it still available when I bought mine. I Just had a weird feeling there was RUST hiding under the paint and everywhere else.

The grille & trunk finish panel are pricey pieces to buy or restore so keep that in mind.

Check underneath closely, Look at frame rails and trunk. Floor pans under the carpet. Numbers matching 383 is not a big deal if it runs well, but rust and missing bumper is as chrome can get expensive. 4 speed is a big plus though. Ask for pictures underneath and the dutchman panel, trunk.

Dont jump at the first car you see. It took me years of searching and sifting to find my car but it was worth it...it's mine for life. When you find your car you will just know. Give it some time, you will be happier. Just my opinion of course! Any B body can be made right depending on a)budget and b) time. I agree with the others this one is a little rough for 12k.

Good call passing on the car, I like the sat sports. There is a local guy up here selling a sat convertible, running 440 with a/c, comes with some parts for ther resto like new top, etc... He is asking 12K, was a florida car, pretty solid, I looked at it to make a gtx clone for my wife, but I would have to buy the car for $7K for it to make sens and didnt even bothering making the offer, didn't want to insult him...

good luck with your search...

if an appointment is set I may be able to get down there and do an inspection for you. I'm pretty experienced and know what to look for .... although you are responsible for validating the date codes. I will do those...but two heads are better than one!

Bkleenfltx are you speaking of the car posted above? If so I appreciate it but not interested in convertibles.

I found one online just waiting for the owner to contact me. Thanks guys for the advice, waiting and passing over cars will definitely pay off!

Yes I'm referring to the car "you" listed above and I'm sorry but I didnt see a convertible above. Am I missing something here? From what I see is the same car listed in Pearland in each link and its not a convertible. Maybe there is a reference I cant see?

Sorry I was referring to the one seventy posted. I checked out the one I posted, I'd pay $8, $9 tops for it.

Yeah, you can also see that it's missing AC components and heater isn't hooked up. I'd have to want it real bad for that. I've paid more, but, for Satellites in much, much better shape!
