A friend of mine Dave Collette bought a 68 SS/AH Hemi Cuda last year and is using Ray Barton hp in it. Its the old "Dixie Hemi" Cuda and he crashed it wednsday 8/26/15 at Cecil County in Md. They say it looked like the rear wheels may have locked at the finish line and then it turned into the wall and rolled about 5 times according to my brother who was there. Dave was taken to the hospital but is home and ok. He is banged up pretty bad but he will be ok just sore for a while. He had run in the 8.80's best with it so far as he has only had it out a few times and was still learning how to drive the car as he was testing when it crashed. The car looks to be a loss but I believe the eng and trans are ok. I am just glad the safety equipment did its job and he walked away from it. Ron

Thank god for safety stuff it deff saves lives .

So where's the motor going? Another car or for sale

Glad he's ok. Doesn't look like a single straight panel left. Looks like it's done.

Very Glad he is ok. I do feel sorry for him about his car, but a car can be repaired a persons life can not.

I was there that night. I was by the burnout box and when he rolled it through I made a comment how nice the car was. It sounded awesome and left real nice. When I saw him go into the wall and roll I was thinking "oh no". I'm glad he is OK but I was concerned when I saw the ambulance come. Glad to see the safety equipment did it's job. When the roll back came w/ the car it was so sad. I heard antoehr car did the same thing later that night. I left about 8:15 pm.

I dont go there often, but when i do it seems a car always crashes on the big end. Collette is a well seasoned racer and well known in these parts. To see this is inexplicable really.

Wow!
Sad to hear!
Traumatic to say the least!

I'll bet he is sore.
(One big wound as "Rocky" said in his first movie) LOL

Yeah, that was "Hauling ***" a SUB 9 second run!

That is the tightrope "WE" walk with these cars...
If we Run them, it is always a Risk Assessment type of moment.

When the Houston track was fairly new, it had a problem with water seepage during wet years and there were a few mishaps because of it. Glad he is going to be fine....and I've seen cars that looked worse come back to be raced again.

I've raced Dave Collette a bunch of times and his cars are all top notch. So sorry to see this happen. I'm sure he'll get it fixed.

From what I hear the car is totaled and he plans to just save the eng , trans and rear. I dont know what plans he has for them. Dave is a seasoned racer as he has been racing his 64 Hemi car that runs mid 9's for years so he knows how to drive a fast car. My brother is real good friends with Dave so if I hear any more about it I will post it. Ron

That sucks

glad he's OK

car looks really messed up, good cage & safety equip. thou, saved him for the most part

too bad I hope he is able to fix it & bring it back
a 8 second SS/AH, real or not, is a rare & fast beast
