Just curious as to what some of you are running & alcohol content where you are. My car has a dynamic compression ratio low enough i can run 92/93 octane. Around here i can get Sunoco(currently using) or Shell without having to drive more than 15 miles.

I just run what ever 92 pump gas is around my area. I use Hess alot since there is a station close to my house and they have good prices compared to other stations in my area in Md. Ron

My poly has a low compression so almost any gas goes in the tank. I've got a Chevy crate with 10.5 CR. I found that only shell gas causes pinging. Rather than take timing out I just buy any other pump gas.

Did a water extraction test on some Sunoco Ultra 93 i bought the other day & it tested at 3.5% alcohol.
To me that sounds pretty good, considering all the mandates & regulations on fuel these days.

(update)another separation test on Shell 93 V power came up with 7.7% alcohol.

Very cool, thanks for these updates. I've always run 93 from Sunoco. The sunoco near us got bought out by a speedway? Not sure the content difference, but if you have by you i'd love to find out!

Thanks,

Jake

I haven't had my build on the street yet. I believe in California they don't sell 93 Oct. gas. I may have to use 91 can anyone tell me what kind of additive you have to put in (best kind) to get,the octane boost? During my dyno they were running 100+ oct. Also where can you buy the additive? We have O'reillys and Pep Boys near by. Not sure of which other automotive stores are around here in the O.C.

What at do you think?

I mix race gas 116 with 93 and add a fuel stabilizer to kill the effects of ethanol. Ethanol on older car gaskets, rubber is brutal.

GetX'd go to boostane.com and checkout their product. I haven't used it personally, because I mix sunoco 110 from the track with my 93 octane, but I have only heard good about this product. Don't waste your money on octane boosters at the auto parts store

I'm not sure if there are any Speedways close to me.
I have yet to check BP, Citco or Phillips 66.
Sunoco use to have an Ultra 94, but did away with that years back.

I was doing that, but after doing a Dynamic compression ratio check on my car i found out i was wasting money on the Racing fuel. My car also picked up too.

Keep in mind - again I can't get even 93 octane. Best case is 91. Would I have to use the octane booster to bring it up closer to at least 93??

Check this stuff out...... I haven't tried it myself, but it's getting great reviews.....

I called them and had a little chat about their product. Pretty expensive at $30 a quart but sounds promising. You can buy it direct or from Jegs. Apparently Summit will be carrying it shortly as well. Thx for,the tip.

91 Octane ****-pump out here. Ethanol boils at 173.

Dennis what do you use for added octane?
De-Tuned. Just enough to get rid of the knock. Performance compromise. Car ran best back East where Sunoco 94 Ultra was available pre-ethanol in the early 90's. Drive too many miles to fool around mixing. I put a few ounces of Amsoil 100:1 marine in fuel sometimes to combat the ethanol. If it works is hard to tell.

I started using it, after a member here suggested it.. It made a huge difference... very noticeable.. Great stuff... Kinda pricey but jeggs has it for a better price than the mfg..

What ratio did you mix too? How many ounces to a gallon?

I started out at 2 oz. per gallon, huge improvement, but 1 oz. per gallon is good enough for my car.... It made the car come alive. I just got another can today.... I think I turned my car into a Junkie.. I don't want to run it without it.. and it smells good too
