This is the GTX back in 1974, that little girl is now my wife. The car belonged to her father and he purchased the car in 1970.
I believe the car to rather rare with some options I have never seen on '67 GTX's including cars that I have read or seen at car shows.
Let me describe the car just a little.
440 auto w/console shift, looks like at one time it may have had the factory tach, now aftermarket.
The car is equipped with AM/FM radio and I have the housing and 8 track tape deck that I believe would be correct for this car. It is no longer in the car, but all the parts seem to be there.
It also has cruise control, which seems to be rare to come by. What is really cool is that the steering column has the original cruise control stalk, mounted on a tilt/telescoping steering column. I have never seen another GTX with this option.
Another odd option is the vacuum operated trunk release, with the button located in the glove box.
Power steering and power brakes round out the options that I know of.
The car as it sits now is in rough shape, although I do have a ton of parts that my father-in-law collected over the years which includes rust free front fenders, 2 hoods, deck lid, extra trim, some interior parts, and bumpers.
The worst part is that the frame is really weak at the torsion bar cross member and what I believe would be considered the torque box area. Sorry I have been a GM man up to this point.
My question is this, I have seen where guys have done frame transplants from a donor car.
Has any body done this? I have found guides to the frame dimensions which I have to believe would help.
Second, what year of a donor car would I need, and does it need to be a 2 door car?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Just buy new frame rails from AMD. Great quality. Easy install. Just remember to have 1/8 drill bit and a spot weld cutter for removal

Many, many articles and such on how to replace portions of the unibody frame rails exist, in publications such as Mopar Muscle for example.
If you're not a welder, you'll need a good one to do the job properly but yes, replacement frame sections are available.

Sounds like you've got a car with a great personal history. Good luck with the project!

Great history and those sound like some pretty unique options. Post up some pictures of the car today.

Welcome from Mid-Michigan. Sounds like it could be a great project. Yeah, lets see what the car looks like now. Always fun to see before and afters. Good luck with it.

I have seen there frame rails, and thought about going that way. I thought on a donor was that both rails need replacing and torsion bar cross member as well. Thought that if I did front clip this would be all together and alignment might be easier.
Thanks for your response.

Sounds like a great project, if your plan is to do a full resto be prepared for the great adventure plus a dollar or two!!! Keep us posted and don't be afraid to ask for help, there is plenty here.

Welcome, great family history with that car and a good reason to resurrect it. Those do sound like some rare options, are they listed on the broadcast sheet? Keep us posted on your progress.

I am afraid the broadcast sheet fell victim to the mice.
Unless it is found somewhere besides in the paperwork of the glove box.

Updated photos

Thought I would send some up to date photos of what condition the car currently is in as well as some of the extra parts that I do have for it.

Looks like a great car to redo. Have you checked under the rear seat bottom for a broadcast sheet. Good luck.

Did I mention I have another Mopar that I need to sell, could use help w/price.

My father in law also had a drag car that I will be selling, I can't afford to keep both (darn it) and beings this one is not street legal I'll stick with the GTX.
I know it is a A-body but maybe someone could help me figure what it is worth.
It is a '68 Barracuda fast back.
440 6-pack (edelbrock)
Indy heads
727 reverse valve body
Dana 60 4:88 w/strange axles
Full fiberglass front end, doors and trunk lid
Lexan glass in all windows.
I have e.t. slips showing 11.0-10.8 at 123 mph.
There is also a enclosed 29ft trailer.
Any help with prices would be much appreciated.

Looks like good raw material. That green color is that same as my first GTX. I don't think that steering column and wheel is original to the car, maybe from a C body?

Yea i seen those tilt-a scope cloumns on C bodies never A B bodie

Judging by the size of the rear tires it looks like it's been back halved? More pics and details would help like what type of rear suspension it has....what's been done to the trans, stall speed etc. What has been done to the engine.....like cam, head work, what heads, crank, rods, pistons, comp ratio and the list goes on. The more info, the better. Same for the trailer. Imo, a 29 is much better than say a 24 and pics of it would help too. Brand, any cabinets inside, winch, etc....

Looks like a very nice GTX! You got the car AND the girl! Depending on your experience, you might want to strip the car down and have someone media blast and prime it,
and then take it to Auto Metal Direct down in Georgia and let them put in the sheet metal and rails correctly. By letting them do the work, you'll know it's all been done right
and you won't get tired of working on the project. You're Father-in-law was really thinking when he accumulated the extra parts! after the car is done it will be beautiful!
Good luck with the project and keep the pic's coming!
