Hey, those are 2 good recommendations ! Who'da thunk ? A model train shop & home depot. I gotta remember that, so next time a nice-lookin' lady comments on my 'purple' horn, I'll tell her it's French Lilac :love4:
Hi Frank, personally, i have seen so many variances in the RR horn color, that i really didn't take notice of how close it was. that's why i uploaded a pic of mine. i took mine down to the bare metal, primered it and shot it with the "French Lilac" and put a new sticker on it. here's one i found on google.
Road runner horn refurbished, I used a wire wheel to take off the old paint. In the hard to get places I use a paint remover; once done I cleaned it with a neutralizer Primed it and sanded it will very light sandpaper. I used the Testor's 1234, it had a little more glosser then the French Lilac Satin. Overall not to bad I should have the stickers in by mid next week. Thanks everyone for your help.
The Testor's 1234 was $5.00 for 1/3 of a can. I bought 3 cans and only used 1. When I bought the car back in 2010 it cm with the 2 horns. There's a problem with on f them it sounds like a deep truck horn. Do you if there's an adjustment on the horn? I sew a star screw but not sure what it's for.
