Almost done with complete console rehab that will go with my brand new legendary interior.
A lotta work but well worth it.

Looks great. My 65 Coronet console is basically the same except not a stick (bummer). Do you have any before pics? Did your center section have a lot of pitting?

Riverdawg, the top pot metal plate was a mess. I sent it off for rechroming. They eliminated the pitting, chromed and painted on the black accents. I Redyed all of the leather. The surrounding chrome looked worn but came back to life with hand polishing with a good metal polish. Lesson: do not underestimate what a good polish can do for tired looking chrome.

Thats awesome. Thanks for the info. Wish I had the original tack or clock for mine. Someone stuck an aftermarket tack in it. Fits ok.

I've seen them on eBay. Set your favorites for 1965 coronet on eBay motors parts and just check it a couple of times a week. If I see one I'll let you know.

Yeah, thanks for the link. I'll have to wait on that until I finally get her road worthy and I'll need that extra couple hundred for that.

Hiya, Redsportfury. Supposing the foam and covering on your's was in good shape. Really looks good!

Same console on mine, but had to re-carpet, chrome has some pitting. Main thing is the rear pad has a chunk out of it. Any thoughts on what would be best, to build it back up, so it can be re-shaped?

Also have one of the tachs, but no sending unit. Things probably flat wore out, like everything else I have.

Yeah foam and covering was pretty good. Leather was faded and dis colored. As for the rear pad, don't know exactly what's under there but I've seen guys fill voids with that aerosol spray foam that you can sculpt when it hardens.

Thanks for that. Kinda figured that's what it would take. (Granny was pretty rough on this one. 7 years in a field didn't help)
