Got no tail lights or stop lights. Turn signals and back up lights work. Head lights work, no parking lights. Gas gauge is reading really low. Ideas?

Bad gas gauge/ sending unit/ ground - lights could be turn signal switch/ connector.

Check bulbs and work backwards (fuse, switch, wiring, etc)

Put in gas.

Full fuel tank, all new fuses, and just replaced the bulbs. I have a feeling I'm gonna be ordering new harnesses, switches, relays, etc. for the dash and tail first, then the engine and front lights. I'm already sick of this car.

Before you go spending the money for all that stuff try some simple things. The regular tail light circuit is the easiest and simplest. It's a black wire from the light switch to the lights. Since the backup and turn signals work, it would be safe to say the ground is present. The licence plate light is part of that same connection in the harness. I would bet it's not working either.
Under the kick panel is a 6 pin connector to the rear wiring harness. Unplug it and, and with a test light, check for 12V on the black wire, pin 2 of the connector from the dash harness. You could also apply 12V to the black wire to the rear harness and check for lights. Either test will split the trouble shooting to the rear or the dash forward.
I don't see a relation to the gas gauge so there may be a couple of issues but stay focused on one at a time. Please post your results.

Okay. Just on a hunch[looked at it before], I pulled the fusebox down from under the dash[again]. It is the original, and is dirty, worn, and has loose connections on the back. When I moved it around, I got the lights on for a short time[bad connection or broken wire? I'm thinking this old girl needs a new dash harness. I guess I gotta wait for another sale at Year One. If I'm not mistaken....the price went up on this stuff in the last week.

Today's update....

Found an old harness that I removed from a parts car, and it had a minty fuse-box. We replaced all the removable fuse holders from the current box, and switched them into the replacement. The fixed/riveted fuse holders were loose in the old box, and tight in the replacement box. Now I have all the lights working, except the emergency flashers. Only one side lights up. Put a new flasher unit in, and the same thing. Now I gotta start searching for the 4-way gremlin. Oh, and the gas gauge is still reading very low. I gotta check the ground on that first. Slow, but sure progress.

My friend Dave, playing with the installation.......I'm sure he'd be mad for posting his gut. LOL.

Okay, the latest......
Temp gauge quit working
Gas gauge doesn't work
Emergency flashers only light rt side

Today....
3:30pm temp gauge working.

Sending off a few dimmers and flasher switches to be gone thru.

Tonite after dark.....

It would seem that the fusebox replacement has helped a bunch more than I thought. The dimmer on the dash does work, and all the lighting is brighter. WOO HOO!!! Now for that pesky gas gauge. I'm betting it's a crappy, chi-com, repop sender that's the problem.
