opinions please....

My opinions:
Fords are ugly and unreliable.
Never trust a redhead.
People on ludes should not drive.
Don't eat the yellow snow.
Wings belong on birds, not cars. (Except Daytonas and Superbirds of course.)

SPOILER ALERT: I don't like wings on a low trunk deck? It's like a fat girl trying to wear skinny heels.

If you want to break up the colors throw the super be stripe on the back.

very funny, lol.

Who doesn't like wings?

I considered that but I don't like it on this particular car.

Contour the back of the car to match the curve of the quarters. I think that would look pretty cool over any spoiler unless it was a clear one made from Lexan.

Agreed!

and "hooters" !!!!

roadkill back.jpgI told my friend that very thing when he first suggested this. I really like the "ROADKILL" Road Runner from Texas House of Hotrods. They did that with the rear of that car, they made a mini spoiler along the top of trunk lid. It looks ok on that car. I have sat on my usual 5 gallon Home Depot pail and studied the back of this Coronet and tried to decide what would and would not look good/right. I'm still not convinced about any sort of spoiler. I suppose I'll just have to mock up something like you suggest and see how I feel about it. Thanks for the input everyone!

IMG_1183.jpgI just don't want to mess up the symmetry that I created with the 70 Runner rear bumper, having the swept up look on both ends. A mini spoiler might ruin that gain. Don't know, have to think on it.

I saw a Coronet somewhere on line the other day that a pro builder had fabbed up. It was right down on the deck, but still on risers, and it followed the curve of the deck lid and quarter tops. It looked ok.

Oh, I just remembered where I saw it. It was one of the top ten at SEMA builders build off. It was not a Coronet but a Chevy I think.

Tail light choices...

Okay then.....how about these?

1968 Cougar tail lights & bezels? I think they look badass....plus, they cost $ 20.00 bucks each versus $ 500-600.00 bucks. Mind you, they are just hanging up on there as a mock up. They would have to be worked into the tail area to sit flush within the slot for the lights. I see them as having a hint of the stock 500 tail light bezels and finish panel with the chrome trim lines all across them and a hint of the 66/67 Charger lights as they are longer than the stock 500 lights and have three separate bulbs and reflectors inside and can be hooked up to blink sequentially when turning.

Opinions?

It's not mine, but I'd say no to the wing,
I can say IMO wings on cars that never had them,
:iamwithstupid: to me look out of place like someone else had said,
BUT; it's yours, "build it how you want it", we may come around...LOL

Yah that whole wing deal has been shelved. Now i'm thinking on these tail lights instead of the 66/67 Charger lights which are hard to get and expensive. I paid $ 40.00 for these. I cant see a way to shape a wing on that rear profile that wouldn't look out of place and ruin the lines i'm creating with the '70 bumper.

The tail light mod really excites me as I am a bit of a moder myself. They appear to be an upgrade of the original light bars and actually look as if they belong. If no one notices when you're done then your choice was right. The spoiler would IMO look OK if it were a little more sculpted ( like it belonged ) but it may come out looking a bit "busy" on the back of the car and you may lose that sleek look that the car has without it. Just an opinion - do it as you like it because nothing is permanent and it's hard to invision until it's finished.

I hear you, envisioning the end game is the trick here. I spend hours sitting on a Home Depot bucket just looking and imagining. Then I spend more time saving pics from the web of the various parts I want to incorporate. I set them up side by side with Coronet pics on the lap top screen and adjust for size, distance etc. and then try to get an idea if it will work and look right. In the case of the tail lights I looked on the web for any 60's or 70's cars with long tail lights. These came up and I resolved to try them out if I ever got my hands on a set. Just so happened there was a Cougar sitting right next to the Chargers at Gates salvage the other day. Took the lights and now i'm trying them out. I like them better in real time than I did on screen but they are bigger top to bottom vertically and i'll have to do some serious fab work to use them. So now I'm just thinking on it. The 66 Charger lights are the same size and go all the way across but I cant seem to get/ afford the damn lenses. I paid $ 40.00 bucks for these, complete! Big incentive to use them but I like the Charger ones better. So...dilemma.

The tail lights look pretty cool but I really like the modern Charger lights grafted into these older cars with the LED parameter.... SWWET! I also like the idea of sculpting the deck lid like the Chargers, would give it a cool look that looks like it could have been offered from the factory.
