Started a 70 Bee with 383 and 4 speed for first time that a customer dropped off. Went to shut it off, and the ignition switch wont quite go back all the way to pull the key outAbout 1/4 inch to the marks lining up. No button. I tried to wiggle the key and turn the sterring wheel but it won't quite go back to where it needs to be. It's not my car, so I thought maybe there was a known remedy to this issue. Maybe the key cylkinder is just worn out. thanks, guys!

Sounds like a linkage issue, make sure the shifter linkage to the column arm is in order. reverse lockout (put tranny in reverse), I had some that needed to be rebuilt, you would have to wiggle the shifter and fight to get the key out and towards the end the customer would have to pop the hood and manually move the lower arm to get it to work, rebuilt it with the rebuild kit from brewers and never another issue. ANY 4 speedmopar parts or info can be found from them guys, check them out...

Turn the coller on the column close to the dash to the left and the key will come out, the lockout from the transmission has likely been removed.

I agree....very likely, especially if it has headers. From under the hood, you will see a lever about 6" long with a hole at one end around the steering column, just in front of the firewall......push that lever down & the key will come out.

Same problem I have. Supposedly, the steering column is from a column mounted automatic. Turn the collar. Then charge the customer a beer little for not telling you.

At the bottom of the steering shaft inside the engine bay there is a arm, push it down and the key will release.

Do some tumbler and shifter wiggling while yanking the key.

It was pretty well all of the above. He apparently had this trans out when they over hauled the engine. It doesn't shift real nice, and between the linkage not being adjusted right and the shift body itself being lose, both need work. I did get it into reverse and was finally able to figure out putting it in reverse I was than able to get the key out. I had tried turning the column itself, but that did nothing for me. He really needs to have this shifter body rebuilt (if Hurst still does them), and get the linkage adjusted properly. I really appreciate all the quick responses! Thanks, Guys!
