I'm currently in the middle of doing a mini tub on a 67 Belvedere. 15x10 steel wheels have been ordered from Stockton and I'm ready to order tires. I've saved pictures and read threads about tire sizes for 2 years. My goal is nasty redneck early 70s Superstockish. I see cars I like but haven't been able to get answers as to what size tires are on the cars. Does anyone have pictures of a 1966 or 1967 Plymouth B body with 30" tires?

I love this car!

Guessing these are a bit larger?

29's will barely clear. I had 9X30's on my Coronet. The front lips had been moved just a touch. I had 29's on the front.

Thanks for the picture and info. I'm planning to move the axle back 1" to clear the front lip. The 30's look great on your wagon!

Don't forget. When you move the rear back, it will change pinion angle due to the arc of the springs. That white car looks bad ***.

29's rub on a bump.....took them off...stock wheel well...mini tubbing will not help as the rubbed on forward portion of the opening...you would have to "radius" the opening....my opinion....doing that is like getting a nose ring

I don't have the rear housing yet so setting the pinion angle won't be an issue. Need my wheels and tires so I can get measurements for the Dana. Haven't ordered the leafs because I want to see how the wheels fit and where they'll fit to get the right forward spring length.

Hemmings did a write up on the White car a couple years ago. I had the owners name and tracked down a family member to ask questions but never got a reply. I'm sure it gets old having strangers asking questions.

Here's another one that's managed to squeeze some huge rubber in and make it look about perfect. (Volume down if at work. Turn it UP if not)

The rear tires on my 66 Belv are slightly over 30" dia. What I have done is moved the axle rearward 2" keeping the tangent of the tire in the same relation to the front outer lip of the wheel well opening as it was with the stock tire. Also narrowed the rear end 4" and did the mini tub trick. The rims are 15x10 steelies with 5.5" back space, tires are Hoosier 29.5x10.5x15.

The fronts are 29" Moroso drag specials on 15x6 steelies.

That looks perfect! Do you know the backspace on your front wheels? I'm also going with Steelies.

33's on the rear. If the openings are moved correctly, they always look great with a tall tire. Anything under 29, looks stock.

Very Cool . . . that's the look that I'm going for on my car . . . I like ! ! !

I've cut and move the front of the wheel well so that it's flush with the inner wheel well - that'll give me more room for the taller tire - it's documented in my build.

I went with the MT 315/60-15s on the back and it looks like they'll easily fit with the rear pushed back an inch. I like the look of the 29" tall fronts but not sure if I want to run the skinnies on the street. Anyone know the limitations on tire sizes or backspacing for the fronts? It's hard to find a 29" tall tire that's not 10+" thick.

Search Coker Tire.

Thanks Gary, I've been looking at Coker. Are you close to rubbing at all on the front? If I go with a 7" wheel would you recommend moving it in or out from your position?

With a 7" rim the backspace changes to 4/4.25 depending on rim/ manufacturer, changing the position of the outside edge .5" to .75". I have checked the tire swing in the fully compressed position without any issues with my combo. Keep in mind I am running a drag tire. My suggestion is to research tire size that you would like or close and go to your local tire store and purchase a used set up tire also keeping in mind that your wheel choice should be something off the rack so you don't have to go thru the expensive/ special order wheels. Regardless it is still an expensive proposition!

30x9 Hoosier radial slick with a 15x10 wheel. rear axle was cut to fit the wheel/tire combo in the stock wheel well. no mini tubes, just trimmed the inner wheel opening lip a tad.

I've been doing a lot of searching. To get to the 29" tall tire a 235/75-15 uses a 6-7"wheel but has a section width of 9.4". I'm going with steelies for wheels that will keep the cost down, but to match the centers front to back I'll need to have them made anyways so I can set the offset to whatever will work best. Trying some used tires is a great idea and I'm really in no rush for the front but wanted to get the wheels powder coated at the same time.

Al, I've always liked your car, it looks and sits great, Thanks!

I've got 30 inch Hoosiers on my '66 Coronet. Not sure if the wheel openings are the same on your Belvedere.
