I have a no AC 383......it seems like the heater core has two different outlet tube sizes and then it seems like the water pump has the same two sizes connections? It looks like the water pump has dual 5/8 " tubes and the heater core is one 5/8" and one 1/2"tube? Do I have wrong heater core or water pump set up? Found all this out when I went to put new heater hoses on....realized the prior owner/builder had some extra plastic wrapping on heater core ends where hose attached. Any help appreciated because I would like to change the heater core which is leaking and want to make sure i get correct one. Thanks.

If it helps...the casting # on my water pump is 2780987 i believe they should both be 5/8 tubes? don't know why the heater core in car seems to have one 5/8 and one 1/2"

Not positive, but I think in 1970 the hoses were changed to 1/2 -5/8. Maybe somebody put a 70 or newer heater core in the car?

The heater core is a 70 and up, they went to the 2 different sizes in 70, your water pump housing is correct

Thanks so much..I was googling some stuff and that's what seemed to be coming up
..I guess the guy tried to get away with what he had... I will order a correct one. Anyone have suggestions for a new one? I've seen Rockauto for about half the price of Yearone....I'm wondering if the same quality? Also saw a good price on Carquest. Also has anyone done one recently on a 69 B Body...any tips, suggestions ?

Put some plastic caps on the core lines and you will not have to worry about spilt coolant.

Thanks, sounds like a good idea to limit the mess. i just ordered one from Advance Auto...I'll let you guys know how it goes

most after market heater cores come from murray. I simple pressure test before you install is a good idea. search part number 399101 for prices. that is the correct heater core for a 1969 road runner. 5/8" on both sides.

I ended up ordering it from Carquest, arrived quickly and looks pretty good....will attempt installation this week...I'll let you guys know how it goes. Thanks again

above heater core worked great...also was having a problem with my temp gauge which turned out to be the 6 volt inverter...all good now.
