Yes it is the correct one for your car unless something was different for an EXPORT car. Check your bulkhead assembly, it should be marked on the fuse side P/N: "3588665-ASSY" above fuse #one which is correct and the configuration you describe.

Hi guys i checked the wiring today. I have the interlock relay/switch mounted on the firewall. I cant see them on any of the wiring diagramms. From the bulkhead engine harness I have 8 wires coming out gray black yellow yellow/white purple brown blue/red
Thanks

Hmmm sounds like 73, did you check the 73 wiring diagram?

I don't have the interlock on my 74.

Can you take a pic of the plug on the engine side of the bulkhead? I'll try to remember to take a pic of mine tonight for you to compare.

Damaged but will replace the connectors.
More worryd about the wiring loom. Some wires cuted and damaged. Thanks guys.

yes, all 74s had the seat belt interlock. Easy to remove and wire around, it but it was probably there at one time Troy.
Why it is not on the schematic, I have no clue. I don't have a 74 service manual or I would have put it up on the site. But that would be my suggestion.

you can either bypass the reset switch ( jumping the yellow wires there ) or switch around the two yellow wires on engine harness plug to jump out the interlock sistem AND keep working the interlock control unit for the warning buzzers and lights.

This is a diagram I made long time ago about the cranking circuit on 74s

I also have the schematics posted on 3rd gen charger board

WOW sorry I completely forgot this thread!

And yes your right the PO has made a mess of the wiring in my car. there is no longer an interloc at all... I never noticed how much of a mess the wiring is in my car.

anyway I do have a spare bulkhead and fuse block from a scrapped 74 wagon and yes it has the yellow wires as discussed so yes had the interlock too.

I'm amazed, frankly. With all the changes Ma made in the "newer" cars (which I never worked with much) you'd have thought "she" would have improved the connector. Even some of the 72? Cee Bodies had external shunt ammeters, which was an improvement so far as wiring problems.

some cars were NOT interlocked but still get a control unit box JUST as a warning buzzer and lights brain... Canadian models got orange box what works like that... some other later models got a green box ( which is not the yellowish original blue box from auto cars )

you can jump the interlock sytem yellow wires not just at the reset switch, but internally into the cab, just that is easier at the reset button. Maybe your car is like that.

OR simply the yellow wires were turned around at the bulkhead conector OR engine harness conector. That would make work the starter relay straight from the ign switch instead the interlock system ( like previously described on one of the ways to bypass the system )

easy to check if wires were switched around... yellow wire traced black ON BULKHEAD comes from interlock and originally should go to starter relay plug. If wires were switched around ( at bulkhead or engine harness ), SOLID yellow wire on bulkhead will run straight to starter relay plug ( like previous years are ).

Suggest purchasing factory manuals on CD or orginal factory Check EBAY. Also the internet has sellers

If you disconnect or remove connectors below front seats, your 74 will start without seat belts

Dunno if actually does, but if does, will disable the seatbelts warning system too... if you still want to keep it working but bypass the interlock system, keep them connected and just work on yellow wire ( jumping or turning around )
