Dash restoration prices?

Anyone had any quotes on total dash restoration? or just the instrument clusters? Trying to figure out where to start& what i can do myself,also has anyone made a stand to hold the dash up to work on? the one they have o graveyard cars looks pretty cool but I havent seen any pics of it or if anyone sells them & Mark dont answer questions anymore

depends on what all you are wanting to do. and what kind of shape your dash is in. you can redo most of it yourself. gauges for a b body usually run from 500 to 700 in the area I live. if you need some one to go through your dash and clean ,repaint, restore . I can do it or I can tell you what steps I take to redo mine if your plastic parts are not warped up, they can be clean and dyed. i usually sand blast frame after stripping down. pm me if you have any questions. Do you restore the cluster to or just the outside trim? Do you have any pics of the ones you have restored?

Called Instrument Specialties....was quoted $5000 to restore an A body dash....as if that will happen.

Its expensive most guys are going to get around $4K-6K.

You can take it apart yourself.
Have the frame blasted $40 or do it yourself.
Prep it and paint it. $25 of paint and materials
repopped bezels (looks like you have a 68' there judging by the pics) $450
repopped vents $50
restore your lower plastics $50 in paint and supplies
new wiring harness $450
it really depends on what the condition of your parts are in, if your heater control is all pitted and trashed just buy a nice on on ebay for $100 all painted and restored, same thing will most of the rest of the parts...

Take some pics of the rest of the parts you have that will be helpful, in my experience doing a non wood grain dash to show quality will take about 15 hours and cost around $2500 depending on how much you do and if you start with decent parts or not.. If you have to replace everything but the frame its going to cost a lot...

Yeah instrument specialities should give people an idea of how much, I'm sure Astor if people waste shipping money with them, they do good work but for 4-5k,I think not

I always wondered. I guess that's worth it if you're a shop like GYC...send it out, months later, it's back and bolt it in.

I got plenty of advice here and resources. Also have the M+H on the shelf. AC parts too. Still not sure how to proceed. I'm concerned about down time, but don't want the car to burn to the ground either. Needs underdash rewired, full treatment on cosmetics and all instruments gone through.

On my 63 I took the instrument cluster apart, touched up the paint on the gauge needles, polished the lexan, and repainted the silver trim. The only thing I bought was the paint for the gauge needles. I had the polish for the lexan and used epoxy I had to assemble the plastic parts back together. Good luck.

I see them at larger Mopar car shows, like Moparfest, and they seem very legit. Large booth, lotsa people working. They do allot of resto and calibration work. They are in Ontario Canada so you will save large on exchange rate.

GarCar has my bezel and instruments for a total redo (63 Fury), Redline will do the gauge reface work and converting the clock to a tach...

I am shocked at the ones here that thought $4000 to $6000 for the restoration. That is easily 4-5 times the cost that I am familiar with. Shannon Hudson from Redline Guage Works in SoCal has done numerous B body and e body clusters for under $1200. Great wook too.
