66/67 Belvedere, Satellite, GTX Quarter Panel Survey

I bought my quarter panels for my 67 belvedere from year one a few years ago. fit perfect just like the originals, NOT the junk jc whitney ones.

I think the 4 pages to this thread and counting are proof that there is at least some market out here for 66/67 b-body sheet metal. My wish list for a 66 Coronet would be:
1. Rear Quarter Panels
2. Outer Wheelhouse
3. Front Fenders
4. Front Splash Shields

The Sherman parts that most of us are forced to use are pretty lousy and the availability of decent sheet metal would save many more of these cars that are in rough shape but take so much additional body work given the need to use crappy patch panels!

I need 3 sets of rear quarters for my 66 Sattelite and 2 66 Belvedere! Come on AMD, please!

Anything from Laysons Rick? I'm going to buy Sherman stuff soon...

I don't think we'll be doing anything in regards to the 66-67 Ply B-body rear quarter patches in the near forsee-able future.

Even with the interest shown in this thread so far.....it would still be difficult to justify the cost of tooling while at the same time pricing them to be within reason of the end user.

If a significant amount of new response is shown in the future.....it may well be enough to go ahead with the tooling.

We do still continue to guage the interest shown in this thread so far....

Count ME In Too!!!

My 67 Satellite Convertible restoration is totally on hold until I get rear upper and lower quarters for both left and right sides. My resto guy in GA was waiting for AMD to come out with their new parts this month and just told me two days ago that it's Chrysler parts this year--not Plymouth... I've been waiting since February for something to happen on this and it's very difficult to be patient about it. The car was rear-ended at some point way in the past, had a bad repair and now they are insisting on "good" parts from a company like AMD (who won't make them) or to get them from another 66/67 Sattie convertible, which I was already told would be as good as impossible before going to this resto guy. He says no, but we're heading into month 4 of the search now. I am not looking to buy another whole car just to restore this one, but I have too much money into this one now to be able to sell it without finishing it.

Outer wheelhouse and door skins and front fenders for 67 belvedere are tops on my list of needs. Outer wheelhouse can't be that difficult to tool up.

With over 10K 67 coronet RT's made as well as countless 400's and 500's it is hard for me to fathom there is limited "want" for these parts.. I have been soliciting AMD for years and reaching out to mopar gurus such as Mark Worman to drop in a good line for us 66 and 67 b body owners. If not for anything the outer rear wheel house as well as rear quarters and fenders IMO would sell like hotcakes. These are the "holy grail" of b body parts commanding bug bucks at swaps etc...

AMD has always been at the forefront for development for top notch body and resto parts. What other marketing research tool should be used to determine want / need for these?

Gotta love those bug bucks! :)

Hey Rick, ever think about doing a pole on your website, or maybe here at FBBO???? The only interest you are seeing on this post are the ones that got lucky and came across it!! My dad and I both have 66 Satellites and would love to see these reproduced. Problem I see, is everyone is blaming the fact that Chrysler destroyed the original dies, and then the lack of getting drawings and blueprints makes the process so expensive??? Well, how does one explain the reproduced Duster/Demon, (68-71) Road Runner/GTX/Satellite, E-bodies, 67-73 Dart (to include Scamp), 68-69 Coronet, and 68-72 Charger quarters?!!! Now Scamp quarters are available, but not 66-67 Plymouth!!! Now come on!! No offense Scamp owners, I like Scamps too, they're cool!! But, how many Scamps were made famous or ever high-dollar/ or sought after by collectors? Ever heard of the "Silver Bullet"? How bout an RO23? So those quarters I just mentioned, where did those dies come from? Why does anyone think those cars are anymore "desirable" or "collectable" than the 66-67 Plymouths? One has to start somewhere when reproducing a part, I'm sure all those that have quarters reproduced from them didn't have to "squawk" to get theirs stamped. I keep seeing other post that if quarters were reproduced that they would or know someone who would save a 66-67 from certain death. WTF!!!? How many Dusters, Demons and Scamps were offered with a Hemi????? Yeah, I love all Mopars, but my point here is to prove a point that 66-67 Plymouths are not below any other Mopar. They're all equal in my book........

I would take a pair of 67 coronet quarters. My brother would take a pair of 67 satellite quarters. I would take a small pickup load of 68-9 coronet fenders......

I'm in on rear quarters and door skins for my 66 Satellite. Searching craigslist for these parts all over the country gets kinda....well....boring

Yeah I agree, that's because no one makes them!!! My dad is restoring his '66 and just bought patch panels, which will work, but full quarters should be available. If Darts, Scamps, Dusters, etc have them available then these cool B-bodies that were available with factory big blocks should have full quarters available as well. Not that any Mopar is any cooler than another, that's not a debate I'm trying to raise, but the fact that the big block cars bring more $$$ whether buying or selling. I'd take any Mopar any day, but these manufactures of replacement steel body parts should get their act together and see the potential in the market!!!

I would love to buy a set of full rear quarter panels myself :).

Man I wish someone would make some decent panels for our 66-67 b-body's.. I know I could use both rear panels and some fenders. If someone would make a decent product more people might show interest in re-storing these beauty's, Insted they sit around and decay back into the earth or get crushed into pop cans..

After I finish mine I might be too scared to drive it if it takes me this long to find parts.I,ll probably end up selling it and finding something I can find parts for.

Just goes to show the kind of support some of our cars get. I asked over 4 months ago about a pole to see how many owners we'd have interested in these quarters if they were produced in full, but then just crickets, as I know I'm right with my point. It's too bad some manufacturers think that because they aren't selling a specific product, that there isn't any market for them.

Doing a poll here can be very mis-leading. It's easy to take part in a poll, but when it comes to actually pulling money outta yer wallet if and when the panels do become available is a completely different thing. We could very easily tie up thousands of dollars in tooling and production costs just to get them in stock. Which leads to the question of how long would it take us to at least get back to even...or maybe even make a little profit for our troubles? Weeks, months, or even years?

If we came up with 25-30 VERY serious buyers who all would want a pair of left and right lower quarter patches, and these folks were willing to let us know just how serious they were($$$$), it's very possible we can get something going.

Next thing would be to source pristine original examples to do the tooling from.....which could be a whole 'nuther thing. Anybody out there have pristine sheet metal to tool from?

One thing I can say for sure is that if this project does happen, the panels would be stamped out here in the USA and they would be original gauge thickness like our 1966 Valiant/Barracuda lower patches are.
