hood picker anybody own one?

Wow, didn't know there was such a thing. I have been just breaking my back and scratching the heck out of things.

didn't know about them. I do now. thanks
I like it. ordering one tomorrow.

Hey, that is pretty slick. I think I need one of those also. Merrick Machine makes some nice quality stuff, I have a couple sets of their heavy duty car dollies already.

I've been making one of those for twenty years - and haven't gotten to it yet.

At that price I might as well accept defeat and order the darn thing.

ordered one last night. will post up set up and first pull opinion when it gets here.

I ordered one today also. I figure if nothing else it should make hood removals/installs a bit easier on my wife lol. I wonder how it would go over if I wrapped it up and stuck it under the tree for her this xmas?

thats cool as hell....my neighbors would like it better than I would...

That's a pretty cool tool. Haven't had to deal with that issue - at least not the same way since I have an a12 hood. I can see where it would be useful.

I have a door dolly/jack thingy that I couldn't live without........

hood hoist..

Huh..never heard of it. Back in the 70's we made a stand that had rubber feet on it that rested against the cowl edges and had two arms with a 90 angle up on the end that also had rubber on them for the back edge of the hood to set on. The front legs were adjustable and rested against the radiator frame. Had a brace on either side to keep it from moving to the side that rested on the edge of the fender under a rag. It was built with the full open angle of the hood in mind. It worked great. Sorry I don't have a picture of it. I think my big brother sold it back in the 90's. Anyway it was great for holding the thing up there so it wouldn't scratch everything and you had to have some muscle to place the hood up on it by yourself. You could put it up from the side and carefully slide it across though. Tried to draw a picture of it, you get the idea. About a 40 minute job to stitch one together.

That is a great tool, and one of those things if you only need it once or twice it would be completely worth it IMO.

Sure Joel, just be sure wrap it up real well for when she bops you over the head with it.

Yeah, you are probably right. And then I would get the talk about how I don't understand women and their needs, and how I am just a caveman. Oh hell, I might just do it anyway - I love watching her get all riled up.

For years I've used a strap and a hook in the ceiling........

Is the Merrick one any better than the Champ one for the extra $40?
