Helping you help yourself $5 multi meter Harbor Freight

Need to get me a new one. Mine from the 70's finally crapped out lol

I bucked up and bought the $12 multi meter! Been good except for the batteries.

I got three of them 'free'....

...had to solder the sockets for the leads to the board on all three!!

Cranky....did you ohm it out to make sure it was bad? Lol!!

That will be ok for most testing but is only 2000k OHMs which will limit some testing but for lights and stuff will work well

I got this one a few months ago. It's awesome.

I've had a $20 Radio Shack one for decades as my "go to" meter.

I use a Fluke at work sometimes.
Always struck me as super funny and ironic that a device used to check precision measurement of electrical circuits was named "Fluke".

I've used a couple of the "free" multimeters from Harbor Freight and they are worth what you paid for them. They are probably better than nothing, but not much. Unless you are flat broke I suggest spending the $20-30 bucks and get a little better meter and learn how to use it. One like this would be much better. http://www.hisco.com/Catalog/Test-M...s/MN35-18204?gclid=CNbJ2cC_i8kCFVKFfgodm5kIaw I have an old Beckman VOM that I've used almost every day for 30+ years. One of the best tools I've ever bought.

I needed a breaker bar, so yeah, I took the time to print the coupon and get a free spare meter. If it breaks, I throw it in the neighbors pool.
