440. Aftermarket valve covers unknown brand. Unable to source locally or on-line. Bought some and modified them to no avail. Anyone know the brand of cover or where to find these grommets? It has a larger than normal channel groove to lock in I guess due to thickness of cover itself.

The red mark is just so i remember the top, there are no numbers or any id on the grommet itself. Tried Advance, Oreilly, Winchester Auto. Nothing close. I am close to gluing the old one. Luckily the piece did not fall in to the motor, just down between the header and frame. One hour to fish out.

yikes.

lemme check my stock tonight when i get home, I have a bunch of grommets in there of various sizes etc. if we can find one that fits, ill just give it to ya!

I would GOOGLE "pipe grommet seal". Someone should have it.

D

Do you have a NAPA close by? I seem to have better luck there than the other box stores for odd parts and pieces.

Available at your local Dodge Dealer.

OEM Dodge Parts:

2946079 Breather Grommet $5.79
3751510 PVC Grommet $5.40

Prices may vary...

Edit: Sorry, didn't see they were aftermarket valve covers.

Don't see them on any links. Uncommon goofballs. Softer material than most. I'll keep looking and wait to hear from Mario.

measure the opening in the valve cover. probably the common 1 1/4" grommet hole. if so they should be available about anywhere.

Those grommets look A LOT like ones I've seen in ACE or True Value hardware stores (or any good hardware store with the little shelves of oddball nuts/bolts/clips/etc.). I believe they're intended as wire protectors where you run wiring through your firewall & don't want the wire's coating to wear through. You might get lucky for $1.

ok Dennis, here's the scoop...I have 2 different grommets.

One is mopar grommet. It's actually a plug. P/N 3640339.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261726996675 (like the one on the left) only thing is, it has a 3/4" hole drilled out in the center.

The other one is a harder compound grommet with no P/N on it anywhere.

looking at your pics though, I didnt realize the thickness of the space in-between the top and bottom of your grommet is pretty wide compared to any of the ones I have.

Either way, I will take pics of them once my #$%^% camera battery finally charges up...

Hmm. When finding one with a wide enough band, the inside diameter is too small for the insert. Could not force this one in either. image.jpg

Hey Dennis, do me a favor, put the broken grommet back together and lay it flat on the table and take a pic of it...I've seen this piece before, but I can't remember where the F it was.

My G-friend works at a wholesale water company and she is showing her boss the pics to see if they have anything. She says they have tons of different types of grommets.

Dennis, is this a hard compound rubber or more of a flexible one?

Update...They dont have anything close. Sorry D, I gave it my best shot.

Thanks. Soft compound. I'd change the valve covers if they weren't so hard to seal. This is what I get for deviating from Ma Mopar.

image.jpg I think I'm getting warm. My friend John (of tripleblackattack on youtube) my go to pal with the 'Cuda may have located the right grommet. Will report.
