Oh baby...what have they done to you?

Sorry to hear about the "tweaks" you found in your car but I have to say you are lucky if everything else is ok. Those are mostly detail items that can be fixed, better than a bent frame, bondo covered rust, or other major problems you hear about all the time. Most of us respect these cars today and treat them very well but that was not the case back in the 60s to 80s. If the original owners didn't mess them up racing or modifying them, the second, third and fourth owners sure did - and they didn't care at all about using the "correct" factory parts.

X2.......Funship32 what you have found so far is minor! Consider yourself lucky! Complaing about two different bolts being used on a 47 year old car.......really??? WOW!

Well Hyper if you have read my previous posts then you'd probably know that I've dealth with more than than just "2 bolts". I've dealt with fuel filter put in backwards (which makes me wonder about who last worked on her), rusted floor pans, bad heads, incorrect wiring, missing door lock tumbler rods and a host of other things. So please, for the sake of all involved, don't wade into a comment I make at the at the last minute and make some smartass snide remark. I know these cars are old and have been finger f**ked by a host of previous owners but if I can't make a comment about my dealings with such incidents without some off the cuff comment from a member at a forum about these cars then why bother belonging to this forum?

Geez....BIGdeal!

So what??
A car of this age has been through several owners by now. Some were idiots, some may have been young and inexperienced. Almost every one of your problems could be easily explained away. Did you pay for a factory correct restored car? If the car was bought from a dealer, I could understand the frustration. They ask sky high above market prices and the expectations are higher.

OOOoohhh!! A backwards fuel filter!!! OOOoohh NO !! Imminent death!

I hate dealing with other people's crap.it's mostly kids some times its a chebby or Ford guys, sometimes I've seen guys buy a project and want to fix it but they never worked on a car before. And 99% of the time they do more harm then good.
Good luck

hey funship, did you pay premium price or get it at a good price? Maybe you should have looked it over better.

You just never know what you`ll find on an old car. Lucky your there to do it right now!

X3 That's nothing compared to what I've seen. Most guys putting these things back together are not professionals. Though some do an excellent job others have no clue. What you have there is less than a weekends worth of work.

I have come across all sorts of hacked up bullshit, but I never considered going on an internet forum to complain about it. I may have mentioned it in jest, but UNLIKE some people, I carefully inspect the cars that I buy. If they are cheap, the hacked up stuff isn't as hard to take.
Black engine bays.
Wire harnesses resembling rats nests.
RTV silicone for gaskets.
Bondo over rust.
Window mechanism MISSING, two 2x4s inside door to hold the glass up.
Aluminum foil in fuse panel instead of fuse
Fix-a-flat in every tire.
Broken brackets repaired terribly. THESE are things to bitch about.
Small block pulleys? If they fit and cause no misalignment for the drive belts, who gives a turd?
A backwards fuel filter? Maybe someone didn't see the arrow on it.
Mix and matched screws and bolts? Some stuff on our cars are not found at hardware stores. If there are no wrecking yards nearby with classic cars to pick from, people will use what they can find.
