After spending the last few years working on my customer's cars I'm finally doing one of mine. Ok so it is an A-body but I'm stoked. I've always been a B and E body guy but I've always loved the 70-1 Darts. I've owned several A's over the year but this is the first one that I've put any money and time into. It is actually a 72 Dart 318 but has been changed into a 71. Will keep it titled and tagged as a 72 and will be far from "correct". The plan is for a 400hp 5.9 Magnum with a 4-spd. Manual steering, A/C and 4-wheel manual disc brakes. Someday want a Passion 5-spd. Has been mini tubbed and the springs move in. Is a real clean Western car.
This is how it started out and how it looked when I bought it.

I've pick up some 71 buckets and won't have a console.
My buddy and I spent many hours sanding and prepping it. He is real good at body work and paint. Welded in the 4-spd hump and bucket seat plates.

Did the truck, jams and bay.

Yup, I know the feeling of working on everyone's stuff but my own! Plus I moved out of a storage building that was packed full. Even the loft was full. It took literally years to sort out the stuff I wanted to keep and sell off and or throw away. Once I got the building 75% empty, I moved the rest to my home shop and quit paying storage fees but then my shop was so full of stuff, I could hardly walk through it! A life saver (well, kinda) was buying a 24' enclosed trailer real cheap from a buddy of mine to be used as a temp storage unit. Heck, it's nearly paid for itself already!

Rebuilt the heater box. New core and gaskets from DMT.
Flaming River 16:1 steering box.
Powder coated the K-frame.

This car reminded me why I hate body and paint so much but my friend is really good. He blocked it 4-times and it came out really good considering we painted it in my shop. Got very little dirt in it and is really straight and smooth.
