One owner.

Purchased new in 74 by a Chrysler employee. He retained it until his death a few months ago. His daughter took possession and was both looking for a good home and good money - that's where I came in.

The car was maintained like it should be...and I mean to the letter. I have receipts back to at least 88 showing oil changes every 3000 miles and it has had every part to fail replaced. This guy loved his car.

She spent $1500 to make sure it was road worthy and then drove it several hundred miles home. She posted it for sale and was looking for $10K. I told her I would make an assessment of the car and make an offer. Even if she refused my offer (which she did) she would have all the important info for potential buyers.

We hit it off and even though my offer came up very short she called me back two days later and said I should have the car...she wants me to have it. So we struck a deal. I had upped my offer to $7K without even seeing it in person. Upon inspection I told her I'd stick to that offer and she took it. I'd say though it has some minor cosmetic issues and damn near no mechanical issue that it was a decent buy. I hit the avg to low end of the high value on this one.

I just drove it 50 miles home.....perfect. Not even a HINT of smoke on hard acceleration nor from the filler cap when warm at idle - it is sealed as you would expect a very well maintained MOPAR smallblock to be.

I really like it.............

I bought it as a driver while I build my Viper Bee and I think I did alright. It will be treated to a minor resto after the other car is done.

More pics later..............

AND.............to show what proper care can do:

This awesome runner has..............

OVER 146K miles on it.

Remember that next time you want to skip a service.

Very nice car. They are going up in value all the time. That was a steal for 7,000.

Wash and wax.....will polish next time.

Just want to keep it as is until I finish the other car

The vinyl was removed and top painted....which I like better.

Car was repainted....I'd say like 10 yrs ago maybe (nobody seems to know it was done) .....very good match to trunk interior.

Damn skinny tires....205/70, but they are new and will do the job.

Nice find. What engine 318 or 360?

Like most.....318

The 340 is better than both, but when I freshen up the car I'll build a pretty good smallblock. I am building the other car into a monster...this one will be more casual.

The interior of my 74 is pretty dirty. At first I thought some of the vinyl was toasted, but it was maybe feeling rough due to a huge buildup of crud.
I did a small test patch here and there to see how it looked....
....then attacked half of the front seat.
I'll hit it again, but....not bad

Long as it's just not nasty.....will be fine. I figured when the guy bought the car he was about 50...and died over 90.....prob not into cleaning the interior and doing the yoga it requires

Few rounds of that and then hit it with warm water. After it dries I can add some protectant. Some people just keep sealing in the crap......gotta be CLEAN first.

I did just one tiny patch on the rear.....not even really trying.....it will clean up too.

Various parts of the interior are made from diff materials and some are more durable and some easier to clean. The lower sections of the doors, the kick panels and rear qtrs may not turn out so well, but the vinyl bits and other plastics may look good.

Try to save that rear lower panel as they don't reproduce it yet . They say they do then send you a 71-73 panel there very hard to find in decent shape. Good luck with it keep up the scrubbing wish one of my cars would drive
Let's see that 318 there's no shame in a 318 i love them

Good to know..........

I'll clean up the the engine bay next.

She's a sweetie. Sounds like you got a good deal and the daughter felt like it went to the right home. That interior is cleaning up nicely. Pretty cool story.

Working on the back seat bottom
Started in car then pulled it out.....stashed in the trunk til morning.

The build sheet is under the seat, but is too crispy to remove...it will just fall apart if I try.

It took about 7 hrs to clean, paint polish and put on carnauba wax, but.........

The hrs and hrs of scrubbing the interior was worth it.

I'll replace the carpet and maybe later dye the plastics, but it's a driver for now.
