Under the scalpel - my Oldest Daughter - Open heart surgery - Wednesday . . .

That's terrific. Good to have family....especially at the holidays.

Minor setback . . . she's been admitted back into ICU for monitoring

My daughter has not been feeling well for a couple days, and she's got quite a bit of extra water retention going on . . . but she had a scheduled check up today back at the hospital . . .

Long story short, her heart rate was running 188 bpm ( should be about 60 bpm ), and they immediately admitted her back into the ICU for monitoring . . . they've got her on some meds that have got her heart rate down to 130 and she's already felling much better. They're going to keep her for a couple days and work on the heart rate - the surgeon stopped in and apologized to her stating that they did a bunch of things to try and prevent this from happening, and that he was so sorry that it happened to her ( my daughter really likes the surgeon ) . . . and like the true trooper that she is, she didn't blame him but told him "just let's get it figured out and get me back on the road to recovery" . . .

That's my girl ! ! ( BIG SMILE ) on dad's face . . .

While they got her there, they are going to try and figure out why the excess water retention is going on too . . .

Sorry for the quick message - I'm on my way up to the hospital to check on my baby . . .

Concern and prayers for your daughter and your family in your time of struggle. Reminds us of how beautiful and important life is and how we should appreciate the moments( good or bad) that we get to share our love with one another. God Bless you and your family, and hopes for full recovery!

Hate to hear that Kahn, hopefully it's just a small glitch and everything returns to normal with no more problems. She sounds like a tough girl with a good Dad, best wishes.

Best wishes Kahn, we are praying for everyone and we hope that all turns out well. Both of you keep your chin up!

She sounds like one tough girl. Best of luck to her.

You have our support and best wishes for the skills of the doctors and medical team. A Christmas Miracle is in order here and she sounds like such a fighter!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Here's wishing a speedy recovery.

My prayers and thoughts are for you and your daughter. My mother had open heart surgery at 93, several of my friends just had open heart surgery and they all did well...keep a positive thought please let us know how she is doing.....

Additional update . . .

Drove up to see her last night and surprised her by showing up . . . it is a 2 hour drive up there, but she's a daddy's girl and I think she was happy to see me there - after all, what's a dad suppose to do ? ? It's nice to show up and surprise her - I think she liked it.

After 24 hours in the ICU, and the doctors talking about what they are going to do about the elevated heart rate - the talked about shocking her heart ( this scared the #$%(# out of my daughter ) . . . in the end they did something and the heart rate has now dropped to a more normal 80 bpm instead of the 140 bpm that she was experiencing all night and most of the day.

So that's a big step in the right direction . . . no clue on how long they're going to keep her there, they're just taking things one day at a time and working to get all these "oddities" figured out so that they can get her feeling better and back on the road to recovery. There is a chance that she could be home for Christmas - she's in good hands - so we'll just take it one day at a time and let the doctors do what they need to get these things figured out.

Thanks for all the kind works, nice thoughts, very much appreciated prayers, and support of everyone here at FBBO - you are what make this forum so great !
