You have a couple choices, one of which may surprise you. For an absolute attachment, 2 part epoxy slathered in the channel will hold on to the glass forever. In the event the glass should break and need repairing, Right Stuff silicon will do the same thing but will not be as hard to remove from the channel. I assume your referring to the lead edge of the rear glass on a hardtop. If this is not the case, disregard this post.
I vote for silicon.
But if you use polyurethane it will never come out.
I've used this on windshield gaskets.
And Duster rear side windows when the rubber had shrunk up and made a gap..
I stretched and clamped the rubber back in the frame till it set.
Still good after 15 years of everyday use.
