So I have an 8 3/4 housing with all of the studs mounted, but otherwise bare, but is also not the right size for my b body. I believe it is out of either and a or e body. Not sure exactly on size but if someone has a b body housing and wants to trade straight up then I would be very appreciative. Located in MA. Prefer not to ship. Will post pictures later, it is In very good condition, cleaned and painted. If someone local (within reason) wants to buy it I also have a 489 housing and I wouldn't be opposed to selling and going a different route. Thanks!

Damn that's an awesome chart!! Never seen it before. Very helpful. Does anyone know if a driveline shop can just weld new tubes and then move the spring perches? Is that like a thing or am I just making stuff up

That chart is also incorrect. I wish it would go away forever. 62-70B are not the same width.

I've had every 62-74 B rear except 64 Max Wedge and checked them to my chart. 62-70 are not the same.

Yes you can have the housing shortened and the perches moved. Take it your buying new axles? What year B do you have?

I have a 73 b body, was told the housing was out of a 71 but guess not?? And I need the housing lengthened.. Not shortened. I know shortening a housing is possible but I'm not sure on lengthening one. And yes I got it as a bare housing so it will get every single piece

71/2B will work in your 73. Would just to in large the centering holes in the perches. 71-4 are the same width and perch width and are probably one of the harder ones to find.

Sorry if the info. I forwarded/posted is incorrect - that sure wasn't my intent. What is the source for your data Moparmarks? I'd like to read up on it and then make the necessary corrections to the information I have. Thanks!

No worries Steve. Both charts are on Moparts and a lot of people post the incorrect one. Your not the first by any means. As I stated I've had all the rears and have check their dimensions and have found the chart that I posted to be correct. I just posted the flange to flange dimensions but it has all of the dimensions. Drum to drum. Perch to perch and axles.

Do you still have the 489 case for sale?
