Fired over feeding a kid ?????

Apparently, a cafeteria worker at Irving Middle School in Pocatello, Idaho has been fired for feeding a hungry student who had no money.
If we can take in 100,000 ISIS supporters and feed, house, & support them, why can't the cafeteria lady feed this kid ? She offered to pay for the meal, but was turned down. I'm embrassed to report this, but if enough people howl, may be they will reinstate the woman.Supposedly there is an online petition to ask for her job back. I'm looking for it. If anyone finds it, please do a link.

REALLY ----- despicable..... How dare she be a kind - hearted person doing a nice deed (sarcasm intended).....
Sometimes it is a shame that "supervisors" / "bosses" etc. DON'T get the big picture.........

A lady like that should be commended, not chastised.......
 
Hard to figure out why she's getting singled out since a fair portion of the kids in most schools have their lunches paid for by taxpayers anyway. A lot of the time the only place these kids get fed is at school. I don't get the part about humiliating the kid if he can't afford his lunch, that's just wrong.

Im willing to bet that kid just had parents who forgot or were not concerned enough to put money in the kids account. Im also willing to bet that kid was not a minority,not on public assistance,not a child of illegals. As i agree with Smitty,free lunches are always available to kids who can't pay
 
Sad, it's really sad...

Priorities are all f--ked up,
I personally blame all our political PC leadership,
schools getting away from what is good for the children, in the 1st place,
not PSEA BS, cafeteria worker BS, I blame stupidity for all this type of nonsense...

What was it like $1.50 in cost maybe, they could have asked her to pay for it too,
instead of firing her, even if I don't think that should even be necessary...
I wonder if there's something else behind this ?
Who in there right mind {pun intended}, would do such a thing ?

no logic or common sense what so ever anymore...

IMO she did the right thing, I'd bet she'd do it again if need to be done again too,
regardless if the kid was a minority or not,
welfare or not or if he could afford it or the parents forgot,
makes no difference, at all...
Because "it was the right thing to do, to feed a hungry child"...

when was that ever a bad thing ?, big deal what's wrong with people today ??

Un freaking believable, a hungry kid should not have that kind of stress put on them. I don't know how old the child is but that school districts policy sucks sh**
 
I pay $3.55 a day for lunch for each of my kids, so $7.10 a day times 5 times 4 is $142 bucks a month. Kids need to be fed, it helps so much with their concentration at school, health and overall well being.
 
That's horse **** for sure! This type of crap doesn't happen here where I am. Breakfast and lunches are free for some and purchased for others. I've bought several for kids. Also, I have a cabinet filled with healthy snacks for those who are hungry and can't afford to eat. Holy crap, I was pissed when I heard this one. Some dumbass bureaucrat who can't tell their *** from their elbow!
 
The 1.70 is a half payed government lunch program. Free breakfast half payed lunch and the family that's on that gets food stamps for dinner. But even so if you couldn't afford lunch you got good old p.b. and j. And a carton of regular milk. If it went on for more then a few times they alerted a welfare program and the kid got 100% free lunch. But no kid went hungry .
I can't believe this crap our stupid president is more enthralled with Muslims and making sure there housed and feed that he forget s there's problems here that need fixing first . The above link works I signed and wrote a nice little note .

They need to give her her job back and fire the person or people that made to decision to fire her.
 
When my kids were in school, they would forget on occasion their lunch. The school would sometimes get them a meal and then send home a note saying that they fed them and that I owed $x.xx amount for the meal. Sometimes they would feed them fresh vegetables with some salad dressing for free if that's what the kid wanted versus a regular meal. With all the money that schools receive from the federal and state government, you can't honestly tell me that they couldn't afford to supply the meal and then not worry about how they would collect on it. <SMH>
 
Apparently the school district can't stand the bad publicity. Good, they deserve the shame for screwing over an employee that's only trying to do the right thing. She said that she's not sure that she wants to go back now and I don't blame her. If I had a business in Pocatello and needed help, I'd hire this lady in a hot minute.
