73 charger starting dismantle stage

I must be losing it because I thought I talked to you about this car but dont see any post .
Anyways first off very cool project one of my all time favorites. Your doing great work the floor looks brand new now. By the way I used legendary a few times,I've used pui a few times ,and some off brand off eBay once (I didn't even bother with that crap)that went right in the trash.spend the little extra cash and get legendary it's great I've never had a problem out of them everything always fits the first time no modes . Pui on the other hand is hit or miss one time is good no problems the next time its junk and I need to send it back because they forgot something or it's for extra material in a bad spot and looks sloppy. Again spend the extra cash first thing people see inside the car is the seats make them look perfect. Good luck

The floors look great! Take your time with the car during the recent changes in your life, don"t want to mess up now :)

Thx Ron,
I am in process of looking for a garage to strip down car and get some work done on it as I now live in a condo and have no shop or garage. I may have found some stuff on a console shifter. What is needed to do to the column after I switch. Thx

Sorry to hear about the split but what the hay.......life goes on. Where abouts in BC are you?

charger will require alot of time and expense to restore. Your rear end has as several options to make a 3.55 gears. 83/4 from a b or c body. May require some springs mounting options depending on year and model. If you find one from a 71/72 b body no problem. 73 will require changes in spring mounting.
this option is expensive due to cost of a 3.55 sure grip can range between $750-1500. Plus the cost of the rear end.

Option 2 is to rebuild your 81/4 using parts from a 88-94 dodge dakota 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive. Track lock units and labor will run about 800-1000 complete.

Option 3 pull a 91/4 from a ram charger with an existing sure-grip unit. Wide is 1.5 inches wider but your chassis will be fine. Need to relocate spring mounting to the bottom and install. You will also need a matching drive shaft for option 1 and 3.

Noted your quarters need replacing. Auto Metal Direct (AMD) has lower quarter panels. Used them on both and 72 and 74 chargers Very nice product. cost about $175 per side.

If you need advice from a old guy send me a direct message

Good luck Robert

He has an 8 3/4 in it he says with the big case ,I'd just rebuild what you have do 3.55 gears with the sure grip that way ether way you go auto or stick it will be perfect ,I'm doing a 4 speed conversion now on my 72 if you want information p.m. me I'll explain what I'm doing and how much the conversion cost . As for the column shift all you need is a floor shift column and you can go factory floor shifter witch you'll need shifter and brackets plus linkage or an aftermarket shifter for now will work too I like using the Hurst promatic 2 shifter s it looks good in the charger s . P.m. me of you want to talk I'll send you my number (anyone for that matter) if you need 71-74 charger help ask away I have 4 as of now have owned over 20 of them restored most if them so I know my way around them purity good

Well I found a great console ,shifter, and linkages all for 475us , plus what is it I need for my column after, is that a going rate. Thx

Well found a garage to start working on dismantling the charger again soon and also found a guy with a steel crank from a 72 truck 440 and connecting rods but don't think I can use rods but can make the crank work. I will start pics soon.
