Hello all! I am new to the forum and am finally getting around to posting here in the welcome wagon.

My super supportive wife and I are the proud owners of a 1967 Coronet 500. This year marks 30 years it has been with me. Lots of motors, lots of transmissions, and 3 color changes!

Current driveline is a 528" stroked RB sitting in front of a 727 with a gear vendor overdrive. Lots of changes coming in the next two years to make it a little friendlier for the wife to drive. This year I am going through the top end and adding the new Trick Flow heads and a roller cam along with adding electric fans to make it more tolerable on the hot days (she doesn't quite get the neutral rev, drive, neutral rev, drive when stuck in traffic on hot days). If there's still money in the budget when that is done I may switch out the center section to a more streetable 3.54 gear set as the 4.30's are a little much on the freeway even with the overdrive.

I am a firm believer in giving back to the car community so I will try to post lots and share whatever knowledge I can. Since I have been a 1 car guy must of my life my knowledge may be limited that way but I'll do my best to be helpful.

Welcome. That's a cool car and seems very familiar. Did you ever line up with a younger guy in a 4-speed, red and patina 66 charger? We might have raced when I lived around Milwaukee. The paint looks killer!

Definitely not while it had this paint scheme on it. I only race on the track now and haven't been there since the car was painted in '08. I got booted from the track when it was blue and I had a 496" in it (for running too fast without a cage). It was a high 11 second car with a stroked 383" before I put the 496" in it. The first time I took it to the track with the 496", I ran a few high 10's and they booted me because I had no safety anything! I wanted to run mid to low 10's with a streetable gear so when I repainted it I bumped up to the 528" which has a much bigger stroke and added a gear vendors OD to RPM a little lower through the traps. I would have had to run the 496" to 6800-7000 RPM to get to the mid 10 level and that goes against my build to live long strategy. The last step of that part of the project is to make the move to a roller cam and upgrade the heads some. I have some really good Stage VI's but they are probably maxed out flow-wise (335 cfm @ .650). The new Trick Flow heads flow almost the same as my Stage VI's but my engine guy has already seen a pair and is pretty sure he can get a minimum of 360-370 cfm out of them. The VI's are awesome but with only a 235 port size they run out of steam a little early for what I'm trying to accomplish.

When were you local to the Milwaukee area? I used to street race A LOT in an old rickety 69 Road Runner back in the 80's. It was a 14 second car that used to best 10 and 11 second cars all the time! I don't know how it worked that way but it was great. Made me some good cash but better yet, it let me rub it in the face of the Chevy and Ford guys.
