I am replacing a Torsion bar crossmember and luckaly encountered this issue. Anyone seen this?

crappy Taiwan stuff it looks like. I would complain, for what good it will do. In reality, the bar won't come out easily, it is more a safety device.

Thats sucks. Did you already purchase this crossmember? Not the end of the world if you did. Unless youre building ab100 point show car, you could drill a hole in from the side and install a roll pin.

Yes, I own it.
Going to check the hex size next.
Propabably cut something with a mini die grinder.

I cut some groves with a die grinder. Seems to work OK.

I am in the process of installing this part and I think I have been ripped off. Also, I am angry at myself for giving money to the bipartisan outsourced industry. My plant is closing this year.

Anyway here are some other problems found.
The location of the anchor. Its about 0.25 deeper in the cross member than stock. I am not cutting the flanges on the frame.
Oh, and the flanges that attach to the floor will need a hammer and dolly.
The top of the transmission cross member interferes with the inside bend radii. I am using the 3/8 size bolts for the 1970 up. It may not fit the earlier models.
The last thing is that it is a bit narrow from the inner rocker to inner rocker. The bends in the out side flanges are not in the same plane as the one in the center. This may be fixable by clamping.

I think I am going to have to buy from another vendor.

Sorry to hear about your dilemma, It just sucks that these companies can make this sh*t this & mislead the customer!!!
I hear this over & over!! I`ve been a licenced Automotive Repair & Restoration Technician, for 35 years & have been in the trade for well over 40 years & Yes, there was "Aftermarket" already back in the 70`s & 99% of it was crap! Now day`s it`s much better, but Nothing & I mean Nothing, beats original NOS or good used OEM parts. Most times you end up paying more but this is a perfect example why. Clearance issues, important items missing & who knows what else!
If you`re not sure , ask around , I`ll bet there`s a lot of people with good advice.
Sorry to rant, Breath, Breath

Can we ask who the vendor was ?

If you need a mint torsion bar cross member I have on coming out this month. Due to you trouble and impending plant closure it's your for shipping if you want it. That is complete BS.
