good luck with the move & job search,

people you meet along the way too, Happy Moparing

I'll definitely take tons of pics of the trip.

Jetting will probably be a bigger issue. Quite a difference between 5000' and sea level.
Welcome to Colorado. CS is a pretty nice town. Lots to do in the area. Not a huge city but not to small, about 500,000 people in the area. An hour away from Denver if you need the big city fix. Real nice in the summer and can get quite a bit of snow in the winter so bring your boots.

Unfortunately the 440 will have a 750DP kinda small for the motor, and I don't think I'll ever take my boots off in the winter

My combo I would run an 850 but the 750 will be good for the trip out there. And it's jetted to stock setting.

Okay, my 440 is .040 over bored, Comp ratio is in low 9's. 906 heads bowls have been blended and some mild port work. Eddy performer rpm intake. And Lunati voodoo hyd flat tappet can with .513 .533 lift.

I'm in Kansas City also. You could swing by and show me the bird and i'll show you the 69' Sputnik. Let me know.
I also have a real good friend who runs a horse ranch in CS. It's beautiful year round out there! Look up 11 mile lake and make the trip. Not far from where you'll be. It's a paradise at sunset!

Ya mine is a 1975 lower compression motor with stock 452 heads, Comp 454 lift cam, Eddy intake and a 750 vac. sec. carb. You may want to go a little fatter on the jets than mine. You'll just have to play with it a bit but if its jetted for sea level then the exhaust will burn your eyes when you get here.

Alright! That's good to know, I really want to drive up and down pikes peak.

I drove up Pike's Peak when I did my drive across country. It was awesome when we got up in elevation. Make sure your car is ready to go though, as I heard afterward that there is a whole crew of tow trucks that "service" the route for cars that don't make it. Many guys like us who want to take our old classic cars up the mountain never make it - the altitude gain is around 8000 feet and your car will only see 60% of the oxygen it normally gets at sea level.

Prepare yourself too - it's COLD up there!

Either way, be sure you do it - it is worth it!

I live near Monument north of Colorado Springs. It's not the drive up Pikes Peak. It coming back down that's dangerous. Here at Monument Hill we are closer to 7,500 feet above MSL. That's another half-mile above Denver. Give me call anytime.
