center vent duck A/C

On my 68 satellite sport witch way does this center duck a/c vent go silver tab up or down I like to get it right well the dash is out and what does it mount to? 01.jpg
 
I just pulled mine out of my 69 Coronet and the silver tab goes up and screws into lower edge of dash
 
Thanks for the help but am confused is that outer edge of the upper dash or lower with the silver tab facing up I tried and the radio is in the way but if I face it down it might fit the lower edge of the dash .
 
It fit the lower part of dash as I remember. Was upside down on my head when that came out!
 
I tried to install the duct but the only way it will fit is if the silver tab is on the out side of the lower edge of the dash is that the way yours was or does it mount on the inside I can make it fit if I drill new holes but if I put it on the outside of the lower dash it all lines up.
 
Correct, it screws to outside of dash, covered by the pad I believe. I have to totally rebuild my entire AC/ heater unit, hope you don't have to go through that pain. The issue is that all I want is heat and defrost but sounds like a major cost and pain to try and swap for just a heat / defrost unit. Good Luck
 
Thanks again but there's no pad under my dash. Good luck with your heater box l don't think you'll have any trouble just buy a new seal kit and have the rad flushed.
 
YES! and I would gladly trade you for your set up. Looks like you are ready to rock with that, looks great. How long did it take you to rebuild it?
 
Thanks for your help I've been at it sense 2002 did very little on it at the start held up with a knee and two hip replacement on track now here's a few pic's.435.jpg436.jpg020.jpg359.jpg428.jpg
