New "garage" in the works

Looks like a great place to live and play, congratulations.

I was going to ask about the current floor. Concrete already?
I don' t always look up. Sometimes I look down at foundations.
At any rate, looks like a done deal at this point.
I know you will keep us updated. Thanks.

I am sooo jealous and the plans look amazing. After my second divorce I had to look for a place for my son and I. The three car garage plus lift sold me on the place I have now. It was really cool to NOT have to bend to someone else's whims. Congrats and looking forward to the finished pics.

Right now, it is paved in the center and the horse stalls are dirt with rubber mats. The blacktop will come up & a new floor will be poured everywhere except for the existing mechanical room. I'll have the concrete guys hit it with the whirlybirds and polish it all.

VERY cool! This is the type of build I would LOVE to do, both as a challenge to build (physically because that is what I do) and for the result....the ultimate gearhead residence!

I think this is all of our ideas of the perfect house!!! I'm envious haha. Good luck

Well, it took some time, but Submit & I just passed papers on the barn today. The hold-up was from the building department who wanted a structural engineer to certify the building. This was fine as it was all to our benefit. In these past couple months, trees have been cut down, the building has been emptied and gutted, and underground utilities have been brought in. So, hopefully, things will be moving forward. I'll post updates as soon as solid construction progresses.

Now the fun begins. (the other stuff is just a pain in the rear...)

Looks wonderful RC
It has that AMISH/Early Settler American Heritage New England Barn feel....

What is the Sq Footage?

Thanks, the building footprint is 50' X 60' but the square footage for living space will be about 2,100 square feet.

Wow that is too Cool! Congratulations! My wife said we could do that after the kids were grown. She lied, but we did just buy a new place with lots of room for the cars.
I'm not mad.
KID

The interior is in the ugly stage right now....

One man's ugly is another mans COOL ! ! I love it RC/DH . . . anxious to see more pics as the thing progresses ! ! !

Very cool . . . I'm envious . . . ( oh, and very happy for you )

I have the land, 11 acres, but not the funds. I would love to build what looks like a large dairy barn from the outside but is actually a car shop inside. It would fit right in around here among the farms that surround us. I can even place it nearly 400 feet away from the road behind trees. Now, just have to convince the wife. hahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahah.....

looking at resale opportunities depends on one's age and circumstances no doubt. sounds like you are at the age where do what suits your needs not worry about later resale if this is where you want to live.

realize it goes a lot smoother with new construction than remodels. problems with square, plum, odd size lumber. personally, I love old barns, there are other people in this world that spend big $$ to have them. your barn sounds like heaven!!!

The latest progress...

The side walls are out in my "play area" & they are ready for footings & then foundation. Originally, these were just areas to drive equipment into to keep stuff out of the weather. Later, that part of the barn was converted to horse stalls. Side windows are out, the elevator pit floor is ready to be poured as well as the footings for the new beam.
